Bruno Mars denies gay rumours
4 April 2012
The pop singer's name began to trend on Twitter following the iReport story.
A representative for Bruno Mars has dismissed a series of reports yesterday that the singer had come out of the closet.
The rumours first began when CNN iReport, which is the arm of the network that serves as a platform for ‘citizen journalists’, carried a story that read: ”The famous pop-star Bruno Mars admits his ho.mos.exuality. ”Subsequently, the star’s name began to trend on Twitter.
Then, a second unnamed source reported that the singer had “admitted to a small Chicago radio station” of his ho.mose.xuality under the guise of an April Fools’ Day joke, in order to test the response, and then eventually came out.
According to the report, Mars is quoted as saying: “The timing is bad… I hadn’t realized it was April Fool’s Day, but it’s been pointed out to me, and I don’t want to go to public with this.”
The singer’s representative called these reports “completely fabricated” and “false.”

Mirella Salemi, who worked at Mary Ann’s Mexican restaurant on West Broadway in Manhattan, accused restaurant owner Edward Globokar of forcing her to take part in prayer meetings at the restaurant, in which he prayed for her s.exuality to be healed.
According to the Huffington Post, all employees were included in the prayer meetings – but Salemi believes that she was singled outbecause of her s.exuality. Globokar is reported to have told his employees that they faced eternal damnation unless they went to church. He was accused of discriminating against employees with different personal and religious beliefs to his own. Salemi’s lawyer, Derek Smith, said in a statement: “He not only threatened her soul, but he also threatened her livelihood. He thought praying might cure her of her s.exuality, but she is someone who didn’t need to be saved.”
Salemi worked at the restaurant for 6 years before quitting in 2007.
The payout consistsof $1.2million in punitive damages and $400,00 in compensation for Salemi.
Ohio school to let gay student wear T-shirt for 1 day
A gay student who sued his public high school for prohibiting him from wearing a T-shirt designed to urge tolerance of gays will be allowed to wear the shirt for at least one day.
The south west Ohio school district agreed in a conference between attorneys and the judge to let 16-year-old Maverick Couch wear the shirt bearing the message "Jesus Is Not A Homophobe" on April 20,according to federal court records. But Couch's lawsuit charging that Waynesville High School and the Wayne Local School District are violating his freedom of expression rights is proceeding. Officials at the southwest Ohio public school had told Couch he couldn't wear the shirt because it was "s.exual in nature, " indecent and inappropriate at school, the lawsuit says.
April 20 is the Day of Silence, an annual event protesting the bullying and harassment of gay, lesbian, bis.exual and transgender students. Couch had said he wanted to wear the shirt to "promote respect for all students, gay or straight."
"We're glad that Maverick is able to wear his shirt on April 20," Couch's attorney, Christopher Clark, said. "However, a student's First Amendment rights are not restricted to one day of the year — we will continue to fight until Maverick is allowed to express who he is on anyday he chooses."
The lawsuit charges that the actions of officials in the district violate Couch's constitutional rights, including the First Amendment right to freedom of speech and the Fourteenth Amendment right to equal protection under the law. It asks the U.S.District Court to order school officials to allow Couch to wear the shirt and to pay him unspecified "nominal" damages and attorneys' fees.
It's A Myth!
'Gay people only go to gay bars. They only like clubbing, dance music, taking drugs and indulging in opportunistic casual s.ex.'
Many gay people enjoy gay venues for a number of reasons. Gay people are a diverse bunch just like straight people, and as likely to be into rock music and stamp collecting as they are clubbing. Being gay doesn't mean you have to join a special club with it's own uniform and behaviour guidelines. Just be yourself.
It's A Quote!
Lately, I've been a little sad that I'm not a gay man.
It became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality.
My American gay audience have continued to dance and sing to the music I make in a way that straight Americans haven't. I am grateful to them for that.
