oh god dude, my ex girlfriend was/is anorexic / and bulimic.

The last 3-4-5-6 months of being with her was torture on myself. Yelling at her to ****ing stop..(since long emotional talks didnt work) "OH BUT I HAD 100 CALORIES TODAY"

Yeah you're really going to **** up your metabolism and after the weights gone if you recover, youll just gain it right back.

I don't mean to sound so angry about the topic it's a really sensitive thing obviously but my point exactly, it takes a lot to help someone.. takes their own conscious decision to quit or seek assistance, kind of like quitting smoking in comparison.

anyways she lost roughly 40 or 50 pounds in one or two months. It was disgusting, and now she claims she eats and doesnt throw it up, and really i couldnt care less anymore about what she does but I have to say... somebody with those sicknesses really needs to take into consideration the impact it has on friends and family as well as their own health and well-being.

anything under 105 is anorexic? you're a fool. please tell me you're aware people have different heights and different bodies? i'm 5'8" and 118 lbs and according to the bmi i'm 17.9, which makes me underweight, but i'm always eating and i've come to terms that it's just the way my body is. the same reason someone who's 4'11" could be 90 lbs or something. it's just the way their body is, their standpoint, i believe it's called in psychology.

edit: oops old thread, but it's stickied, so i didn't bump~ anything, not really.

This certainly brings up memories. I has anorexia nervosa and bulimia during a time in my life, I had a complex about my body and was going through depression. Eating, and vomiting were my escape form. Trust me this isn't my pity party it was a time where I learned a hell of a lot about myself and life.

Although she has friends and a social life she is hiding a very lonely world from her friends and family. I am 1 of only 2 that know about her situation. I wish I could help her but she doen't want my help. She just wants someone to talk to and listen to her about her problems. It can sometimes be depressing but I still listen only because I care about her. ...........
    Thats very sad.

My niece suffers from anorexia. It started when she was 8 years old, and she had kept in a secret. Not all forms of it are from thinking your fat. But, most of them are. Some a really stress related and what not.

But, anways. She was hospitalized for 2 weeks, and if she couldn't finish her food within a certain time limit they would threaten her with a tube that they would stick down her throat, to feed herself for her. Its a very ugly process, really. And more than half of the girls that are anorexic/bulimic aren't even fat, or even overweight at all. And, if they do want to do it to lose weight, by the time they do it will already have spiraled completely out of control. There are also places you can go to talk to someone about it and for treatment.

I don't know if what I just said has anything to do with what this thread is about. I didn't read anything else. But, I just kinda wanted to get it off my chest anyways. Not really a lot of people I can go to without it being really sensitive for them.

    I just read down some....
I am 103 pounds, and I am not anorexic.
I probably eat more than all of you combined.
I just stand at 5'0 and have an extremely fast metabolism.
    eh.

I'd love to add to this, when I say that I started out
at about 140 and 5'5, when I developed a form
of anorexia and habit-forming bulimia problems.
It started because of shit like:

    140+ is PLUS SIZED.

All it takes is one ignorant, uninformed statement
to trigger someone. Anyone who's in recovery
    will know what I'm saying.

I did basketball, track and tennis on the side when I
was 14. I was muscular and athletic, but I wanted
to be small, no muscle- to be nothing. So it started
with me sleeping instead of eating, skipping breakfast
and substituting sugar-free gum and water for lunch.
    Graduated to diuretics and laxatives.
    I'm in a recovery + therapy-based program right now.

Height/weight + genetics play a huge factor in
how people look. No one with the same weight
will ever look exactly the same.

For me, I would be underweight at 120 lbs, and
overweight at 150. I always worried more about:
'At what weight will people like me the most?'

For someone who started out at your idea of obesity,
I lost 25 lbs and a great deal of respect from some of
my team mates and friends. But those same people
had to show me where I was going wrong, what I had
    to learn.

To everyone suffering: you owe it to yourself to get treatment, no matter what stage you're in. It's a slippery slope- we both know that part.

    And to the original quote:
I hope you pride yourself on being 5 lbs from 'anorexia'.
    It's a hell of a ride.
