    Default Architectural Technology Dissertation Ideas

I am going into my finial year in September and want to start looking into Dissertation topics and do a bit of reserch before I go back.

My problem is I can't really think of specific topics to discuss and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. At the minute I am thinking along the lines of Sustainability in Construction, something to do with Green Housing Designs or Is Health and Safety holding back design too much (reworded, but thats the general idea). All help would be appreciated!

You lost me... so I am gonna shoot in the dark. Could bioengineering a plant to suck much more carbon dioxide in by deliberately breeding them in a C02-rich greenhouse over several years help to pump a higher percentage of oxygen into our atmosphere, if planted back into the wild? Could It be done? I doubt I have helped you, but again, I tried.

P.S. someone out there... Think... is this possible? O.o

You could use an historical approach: Sysematic Progression, for example. Including some engineering-flaw-examples and how to avoid them. I would discuss engineering errors and ramifications from them. You might include critical-safety features such as Double or Triple Redundancy-Methods. I would consider integrating practical uses of the 'Green' principle including: use of solar devices and water re-circulation for cooling/heating purposes. Quite a broad-range of topic possibilites. Good Luck. Ciao.

I can't think of any other than the ones already suggested. The Green Housing seems the best choice to me, there's plenty to write about that.

As for Twilight Kill, yes it's possible, though highly unlikely to happen anytime soon. Even if there's a bio-engineered plant with those properties having it globalized is a huge problem to begin with, not to mention that even if that were to happen the amount of reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would be close to insignificant. There's less than .01% of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it's not like it's a big problem anyways. It's an ongoing cycle of cooling and heating up of the Earth that has been happening for a quite some time, human actions have barely made any difference in global warming.

Maybe the idea of a fully self sustaining house without the need for external power?
Exploring the materials that are used today and how different self sustaining houses usually look compared to the majority of others and how the change in use of materials, building design and power can create a self sustaining house?
    Just an idea!
