Space colonisation or no space colonisation?

this is off topic but I will throw my two cents in anyway...

I don't think we have any hope of colonizing anything outside of our own solar system. Think of how large a ship would have to be in order to take all the supplies a small group would need in order to make it to our nearest stellar neighbor. Also throw in the fact that it would take 4 years to get there if we knew how to travel at the speed of light. I believe we'll kill each other off, a comet will return us to the stone age, a disease will infect us all and kill us, or God might show up and shut the power off before we ever get to that part of the show.

Scientist estimate that our sun is at its halfway point, twinkz . Eventually the sun will expand into a red giant and swallow up our planet. We're able to estimate the length of time that our planet will last based on the mass of our sun in comparison to other stars that have already expired and that shared our sun's mass. I don't believe humans will be around to see this, Twinkz but If you meant that no one knows when humans will come to an end, you're right. Our planet does have an expiration date, though. The ol' girl has about 5 billion years left, give or take.

I don't know enough about dark energy to comment on whether or not it exists but I can see where others would theorize that time would or could come to an end or freeze. This gives me something to read into, at the least.

That is exactly what I meant .. anything can happen to our planet and us but no one really knows when .
