Chat-Avenue Forum Layout Guideline
Above you see a screenshot of what the homepage/main forum looks like (if you happen to be using a different skin such as ‘underground’ or ‘color theory’, expect the layout to look different). The skin (background) you see is called ‘#1 Chat Avenue’ and it is set as default. This is the picture that I will be basing my next few statements on. Ignore what you see in red for now.
The Forums
What you see on the left hand side is the actual forums, each of which are divided into seven different categories. Each forum is placed within the relevant category depending on its material.
The New/Old 'Speech Bubble' Symbol
The symbol you see on the left of the forums is a simple indication as to whether the relevant forum is marked as ‘read’ or not. What does ‘marked as read mean’? It means that it doesn’t notify you (by the bold title) that someone has made a new reply or someone has created a new thread. If you mark a particular forum as ‘read’ you will notice how the titles are ‘regular’ rather than being bold. To mark the forum as ‘read’, double click the icon and it will turn navy blue.
The Threads
When you click one of these Forums you will notice a numerous amount of threads on the left hand side. The thread titles in bold is just an indication that a reply has been made and it hasn’t yet been viewed by you. To view a thread just click a topic (on the left hand side).
Right Side of The Home/Main page
On the right hand side you will see a thread title in bold adjacent to a particular forum with a username underneath it. The thread you see is the most recently updated (with a new post), and the person responsible underneath it.
The Small White Arrow Pointing Right
Click this arrow to be directed to the last post.
The Double Arrow Pointing Up
Use this feature to hide a list of forums.
Please keep in mind that some of the points I have mentioned above may not apply for the different skins.
Replying, Quoting & Multi-quoting
Replying without posting/talking to anyone specific -
To reply to a thread simply click the ‘post reply’ button either at the top or bottom of a thread. To preview your reply click ‘preview post’.
Quoting -
‘Quoting’ means to talk/post to a specific person.
Go to the relevant post and at the bottom right hand corner click ‘quote’. Type in your message and click ‘submit reply’.
Multi-Quoting -
Multi-quoting means to quote a number of people.
Click the button on the bottom right hand side of ‘quote’ on the relevant post and you’ll notice it turns red. Click as many as you want depending on who you want to quote, then click “reply”.

simple.
