    If only we start colonizing outer space can we then managed our population growth. A planet of finite resources cannot sustained an infinite population growth.

    Edit:
    I find the article a bit suspicious as it makes no mentioning of the pivotal role that DNA plays in the process of aging.

    Who said anything about an infinite population growth?

    @ Edit - I'm not really too educated within this subject. But I'm sure these scientists know the basics of what they're trying to achieve.

    Im not sure if any of you have read about the Turritopsis nutricula or more commonly known as the Immortal Jellyfish.

    Its immortal biologically but it can still be killed ... oh say if you shoot at it or try to eat it -_-.

    The jellyfish can regenerate its cells back to its immature stage and pretty much live 5ever

    They havent even cracked the code to reanimate dead tissue, I very much doubt they could create immortality in twenty years.

    But He was wounded for our transgressions,
    He was bruised for our iniquities;
    The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
    And by His stripes we are healed.

    don't say that shyt, the mayans/egyptians also could have said that in their prime, then they got FUCKED and now look where they are, thousands of years later. so yeah it progresses, until some random idiot starts a nuclear winter and we go backwards again.

    The Mayans and Egyptians never had remotely close the technological and knowledgeable prowess that we now possessed. They seems to relied heavily on their Gods for progress, while we relied more so on science for progress.

    I dont believe that entirely. Without philosophy, economics, mathematics, and goverment we wouldnt be where we are today, and all those things including science spring from the same tree. As for the Mayans/Aztecs/Egyptians/Romans it is my opinion, considering I read alot of history, the whole theory that something can be "too big to fail" is quite the opposite. The more advanced, pronounced nations inevitably crumble under their own weight so to speak; it becomes a much larger target and there are many gaps in the armor. As for not giving the Mayans/Egyptians much credit for technology and science, it is a known fact that the Mayans had a more advanced road system than Rome and still to this date has the most advanced earth-lunar calendar system of record. The Mayans also had surgical instruments sharper than any in modern times; there is evidence that they performed brain surgery! The Egyptians also had a knowledge of electricty, for there have been ancient cell batteries found in tombs. The Romans had knowledge of steam power and power via water pressure. AND LETS BE HONEST HERE.... had the white man never came to "the new world" there would probably still be an advanced native americas culture from Canada to South America; it was disease and war that ended the reign of the natives, not relying on religion. SO your argument is rather weak in comparison.
