The guy was a weak minded NOBODY who is now somebody given all the attention he's got since the shooting. If it hadn't been the Batman premier it would have been something else. Losers like that who have access to guns will always take their frustration and failings out on others.

As for the fact he managed to buy 4 guns and 6000 rounds of ammunition on the internet I wonder why there's no kind of database which would flag up such purchases. Ok like anywhere there's illegal guns but I doubt he would have the kind of ammo he managed to buy.

I wouldn't have wasted time detonating the shiate in his apartment. More like I'd have thrown him through the window and let him set the booby traps off. Hopefully he doesn't get the death sentence but is given a nice life sentence preferably served in the general population of whichever prison he's sent to. Would be interesting to see how tough he'd be suffering a daily beating followed by a round of loving from the rest of the lifers.

Seems to me the guy was simply off his rocker.

Unfortunately we live in a society that glorifies violence and allows people to buy guns and ammo whether they're off their rocker or not.

Those who promote this ease of purchase refer to it as "freedom."

Maybe if the "freedom" to go to a movie without being shot were written into our constitution instead ...

You know, over 100 people were killed in bombings and gun attacks in Iraq yesterday. Just, you know, to put things in perspective.

People see the middle east as a war zone, and to be honest, it sort of is... War is war. But seeing as this happened in the western society, it feels like it could have been avoided.

    Is what it is.

What about a truck driver who drove across a rail line in SA 2 weeks ago and killed 26 people and more than 20 injured?

I'm not condoning it. But your family is always going to be more important than your neighbor.

It's a little tough to determine who's 'off their rocker'.
Joe Citizen might buy a gun and in a few years he might snap for one reason or another and go on a killing rampage even without a prior history involving any type of violence.
But then again, he may not. He could be a law abiding citizen.

As to the ease, I agree. 4 guns in two months? Really? There was a law in my state that limited purchases of a handgun to 1 per month, which I think is a good idea. Unfortunately it was repealed.
It'd make sense to have that kind of limit to all guns in every state. It makes zero sense as to why someone would need to buy that many guns in such a short time period, sane or not.

The NRA would up in arms if a democrat make those kind of statement.

It'd make sense not to be able to buy guns at all.
