Question Java for Mac laptop problem

I have been trying to go into teen chat since yesterday. It was working fine but now Im getting the message saying something along the lines of " having a java compatible web browser ." I went to Java to check to see if I could uninstall and reinstall the java I have but apparently the only way to check if I have the updated version is by using the software update command that lets me update software on the laptop.

Is there anything else I can try to do to try and fix this? Thanks

What v. of Java are you currently using? Some have been experiencing bugs with the latest version. If you have it, manually remove it, purge your cache and install the earlier version. Hopefully that will work. Good luck.
