Default All for Gold medal: Chinese children cry during brutal olympic training.

    By: Debbie Emery_Radar Reporter

The Chinese are currently in the lead in the Olympic medals race, but here's a truth behind their achievements, their young aspiring athletes
screaming and crying in anguish during hardcore training sessions that could reveal the secret to their success.

After taking home in the men's team gymnastics on Monday, many are marveling at how the Chinese competitors can be so much faster, stronger and fitter than their western rivals, and the roots of their success can now be seen to span back to a very early age.

Many aspiring Olympians are in the gym for up to eight hours a day, six days a week, and according to teachers, they don't get any holiday
because a break from training for even a month would make the youngsters rusty.

In the Yunnan Province, children as young as four train for hours every day as they grimace in pain holding handstands, contort into distorted positions, or grip tightly to bare metal bars, unable to hide the agony in their little faces.

At the No. 2 Beijing Shuangqiao School, the youngsters practice on the uneven bars until they have blisters on their tiny hands, with many of them staying at the school for at least five years before they can emerge as athletes.

There has been increasing outrage during recent years over the conditions of these children, who are forced to live and breathe gymnastics, many of whom are boarded at the training center away from their families, such as Yang Yilin, who couldn't even say if her parents were watching when she won bronze in the 2008 Olympics.

Life is just as tough for swimmers, who spend hours in the pool at the Chen Jinglun Sports School in Hangzhou, China, where the "Mandarin Mermaid" Ye Shewan was trained.

The 16-year-old literally blew the competition out of the water when she not only took the gold medal in the 400m individual medley but also knocked a second off the world record and was faster in the last 50m than Ryan Lochte was in his race the same day.

Ye's teammate, Lu Ying, spoke out about China's strict training regimen in a rare act of defiance. "In China we're used to study, study and train, train and then rest," the 23-year-old, who relocated to Australia in 2008, said via an interpreter at a press conference following her race on Sunday.
"I think our way of thinking has many limits. In Australia I've been invited to barbecues with my teammates - that would never happen in China."

"I'm okay today. I'll be okay tomorrow. And the next day after that I'll still be okay. But in a year you will see me, I'll be amazing."

Nothing new. This kind of thing has been happening for decades and not only in China. A child from a poor family shows potential then they're taken from their home and sent to academies/training schools to train. Look at the Shaolin Monks who tour. They have very young children who put on the most amazing highly discipline performances, whilst here in the UK too many kids are practically encouraged to be weak minded losers.

I know people will think I'm being racist, but I often say when a team fails and they are from China, Russia and other third world nations, that they will be severely punished (sent to the potato fields, sent to Siberia, etc) when they come back home. These nations, all they have for national pride is sports, and they take it so seriously that to the rest of the world it is cruel and inhumane; myself I cant say such things dont happen here in America, cus I am sure it does from time to time, but if the Chinese literally torture kids in training to the point of tears it goes to show how desperate they are to beat America, because for the most part we dont go to such lengths to be number one; we may not have as many gold medals as China, but we are tied overall in medals and that goes to say something.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
    He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

i so do not agree with that ^^^ . it's not only in sports the chinese want to perform better or perform better! it's in everything including education . i dont see anything wrong with wanting to be the best and to be able to be better than your competitors you have to train/work hard or cheat better !
here in england , children are so much underestimatimated that instead of training them to be the best they train them to not work too hard so they wont get hurt and cry
i admire the chinese high expectations of everything especially sport and education .

You really can't compare potato fields with Siberia; China cannot be compared with Russia! In fact, Russia would resent being called Third-World! Are you Russian or Chinese? Are you an Olympic Athlete? If not, how do you know what lengths they go to? One shouldn't compare apples to oranges or, to be more exact, Russians, Chinese and, Americans! With all respect....Ciao.

Every olympic athlete (the elite) goes through this type of training.
