So.... I'm confused as to what good it is?

My guess is that so we can learn how the body reacts to circumstances that pertains to different kinds of individuals (male, female, gay, bi, straight, male, etc).

Well its not like if you look closey the person's eyes have the words gay, straight, or bi***ual in them lol
its about the person's pupils when you see something you like rather its a sandwich or a friend they get bigger not like so big they cover your whites just a little bigger and the opposite when you see something you dont like, it would be a little hard as pupils are hard to see unless you have light color eyes
so if you are looking at somebody and you see their pupils get a little bigger when they say a person of the same ***, dosnet mean they are ***ually attractived to them could mean thats their friend or they like what the person is wearing ect. im guessing the only way would be do have a high speed camera and have pictures of different people flash on a screen and take a picture of the person's pupil everytime a differnt picture appears

I'm quite aware, they say if you're attracted to a person your pupils dilate, or what have you.. But I don't believe they can tell if for 100% just becos of that fact, so I think it's somewhat inefficient.
