    POTW 44 WINNER

    ~<<Pēąčħęś>>~

    Dear Santa,

I write to you today not for the toys in your sleigh
I request a special gift on this Christmas day
You see, my daddy's a soldier.... he's in the war
He is far away we can't see him any more
I know he is needed over there
But Santa we have hard times, I know you care
My little brother is sick and is losing his hair
I hate to see my momma when she cries
She puts on a strong front, I see how she tries
I will give you all my Christmas tomorrows
To have my daddy here to help this sorrow
I can see my mom's beautiful face
Smiling as my dad stands by the fireplace
I can see me and little brother
Watching and giggling as we all love one another
So, please Santa this is my Christmas wish
I will even leave you MY cookies in the special dish
Just please, please let my dad ride along
Ride with you on his way back home.

    Thank You Santa
    You are the best
    Merry Christmas
    Your Friend,
    Sara Alexis

    Talking "irish" rufus murphy

Poet of The Week 45 Winner

    Stanzas in Time

what is this i been told?

another trinket for my heart to behold?
love still exists, believe what is said
otherwise perished, and soon will be dead
what is this in my sight?
a promise for forever, in the night!
love still lives, in your mind
thus is the stanzas in time

loves kiss and embrace, i crave
to the passing days, i am its slave
a token of esteem, here and there
you promised me chance, this you swear
how am i to believe, just words to read?
its just ink, hours of thought do creep
what am i to do, find solice in my sleep?

    love, is, forever?
    of the moment, is together
and these, all the same, are just lines
    stanzas in time...

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
    He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

    You know by Notorious Hip:

everything around me gets smaller it seems,
feels like I'm running a mile getting hard to breath,
two people with so much in this world to share,
now i know what they mean when they say love is in the air,
everything about your from your head to your toes,
to your bright blue eyes to your designer clothes,
is perfect in every single way don't ever change,
its like they say love is a gun, well i am the range,
and you can point it straight at my heart i wont even blink twice,
pull the trigger because i need you in my life,
when that day will come, well i think never,
she is my world, and my world lasts forever

    POTW 70 Winner - Morissey

    My Wooden Horse

Burn all my bridges and sack all my towns
Destroy all the crops of my season
Plant doubts in my heart when we are apart
    You never needed a reason
Then finish me off with sickening haste
By denouncing my feelings as treason

Laugh at my letters with friends over drinks
I'm just a lost lovesick boy
Leave all my roses to wither and die
My Helen keeps running to Troy
But the battle you fight will never be won
My love is not yours to destroy

three way tie this week, congrats to all three of you. ∞felidae panthera leo∞, Unholy Empress and Natalie xOx all won the structured theme.

    ∞felidae panthera leo∞

If concrete towers guard our souls like gates,
All terraced structures soaring high from earth,
And jut with angles harsh: the city straits,
From manmade cages let’s define our worth.
We yearn like lonesome soldiers standing tense
    For vibrant lives that we must long to own;
Yet even then, we watch behind the fence,
With wasted, broken limbs and brittle bones.
Our sheltered hearts cocooned in hardened shells,
Forever wanting, thirst that’s never quenched,
Imprisoned inmates locked in iron cells,
In rigid boxes we remain entrenched.
But when you choose to venture through these doors,
Lay quiet claim on life and make it yours.

    Natalie xOx

    You are but a ghost
    Memories lost to disease
    Your mind is fading.

    But while you slumber,
I sit and ask myself why,
    why I am haunted.

    Haunted by my love,
    Haunted by your fading love,
    but I don't regret.

    For when I see you,
No ghost or stranger are you,
    You are mine, always.

    So while your mind fades
    and memories become dreams
    I shall sit by you.

    By your side, I'll be
    Waiting for your golden heart
    To remember me.

    Unholy Empress

    His frosty light kiss
For years my lips were haunted
    And my heart preserved

    Winds swept chunks of snow
Upon my face and bare skin
    But absence brings pain

    Through December's mist
I wish for your grand return
    In my arms to stay

    whooo.
thank you to everyone that contributed/voted/etc
all the poems were good but here are the winning entries for PoTW 72

    Unholy Empress

    Sakura Tree

You started out a single seed,
    Within the cherry farm.
Your flowers took a while to bud,
    Your twigs grew into arms.

    Your teenage siblings all around,
    Were stretching their limbs too.
Your blossoms charming all the bees
    And people passing through.

    Confetti falling to the floor,
    Warm breezes making swirls.
The autumn came with colder winds,
    Pulled off your crimson pearls.

A wonder that your naked bones
    Endured the piercing snow.
In spring your foliage shall return
    A magic, blossomed beau.

here's the winning entry, so again congratulations ∞felidae panthera leo∞

The cursor drags to click & flick through channels, names so lurid –
Titles bolded, sidebars scrolling, icons all uploaded,
With bars of green, plain green and red, thumbs vying for approval:
Hey, Caesar, it’s pollice verso; cast your disapproval.
Comments, most one-liners, pepper spam & spam & spam,
Little nuggets for your info, go and lend your pointer's hand.
    They’ll love you ‘cause you’re funny & they’ll love you ‘cause you’re dim;
But truly, it won’t matter as the masses sing and sing.

    These ratings cut no ice as the hit count keeps on rising;
You’re gay, fucking stupid, but these haters aren’t surprising.
You sing like shit, you talk too slow and look like Peter Griffin.
You’re gifted and a satirist and, by god, that accent’s spiffin’.
You’re them and they’re you, seeking for each other’s notice,
Shifting digits on that record, spraying links to strike a chord.
Who gives a fuck about the message long as tits are on the screen?
You don’t care about them censors; on these pages you’ll convene
Spitting vitriolic sentences, words so filthy they’re like sludge.
Go cut yourself, you ugly bitch. It’s my damned right to judge.

It’s just brilliant, a sham, a cultural sensation
And you’ve got your anonymity to dampen degradation.
Words flow up the screen like the breath of a fire.
Throw some spirit on the pit; watch those flames go higher.
It’s sweet and short, but the kindle burns out,
So stretch in your seat, close the browser, check out
And put your kids to bed, send a text to your mate,
Cook the dinner, pack some lunches, ‘cause it’s getting pretty late.

Don’t forget to wash the dishes, do the laundry, feed the cat,
    But there’s always tomorrow, and the day right after that;
It’s a vicious cycle, you know it, but you don’t really care.
‘Cause what are the goddamned consequences? Who've you got to spare?

If I had a gun, I’d be dead right now.

    Hanging yourself seems easy enough
Just need some rope and a chair
Tying the knot doesn’t seem very tough
As long as you do it with care
It’s when you kick the chair away
And lie, hanging from the ceiling.
You hope your neck breaks straight away
And you quickly lose all feeling
But sometimes it’s not like that at all
And you struggle desperately as you fall
Death is so very slow, the air leaves your lungs bit by bit
Your feet scrape the floor, your nails scrape the rope, you just want to quit,
But you can’t and so you swing from side to side
It takes a long time until you’ve died.

Taking a whole bunch of pills is another way to go.
You can buy them from any corner shop nearby.
This is no definite guarantee for death, though.
It’s the least successful one to try.
Even swallowing packets and packets of pills
In the comfort of your own private bedroom
Will just cause you to be very ill,
No matter how many you consume.
You throw up the entire contents of your belly
It’s nothing like how they show on the telly
    It’s not glamorous or quick
It’s just lots and lots of sick
So overdosing on painkillers is a stupid way,
Won’t do anything, you’re sure to stay.

Throwing yourself off a building seems a pretty obvious pick,
For those who are that way inclined to suicide.
Falling past every storey, brick by brick
Until you’ve hit the bottom, until you’ve died.
Unless there’s someone standing directly below
That you can’t see from the very top
You didn’t realise they were there, you weren’t to know
Then you fall, land on them and stop.
So you kill them instead, you don’t succeed
Because of you, a stranger bleeds
All over the ground, in a dead mess
    This attempt was no success
And someone will have to clean the corpse up, whether it’s you or him
Didn’t think of that, did you, before you threw yourself off on a depressed whim?

    Hanging, overdosing, jumping.
    All seem rather gory
    Whereas a gun
    There’s a different story

    Insert the bullet.
    Hold against head.
    Pull the trigger.
    Bang, you’re dead.

Yeah, if I had a gun, I’d be dead right now.

PoTW 75 (personal experience) resulted in a draw. Congrats to Leo and Ben.

    ∞felidae panthera leo∞

    When you lie low

I know this cloistered space so well,
These walls plastered over, smothered with pictures –
Childish doodles that are almost sinister
    As they resonate with memories.

Paint a pretty flower with a crooked, smiling face
They overlap, smudgy sheet over sheet
Pick me, pick me; I’m the happier one
Don’t you see my little smile?

The people are like that, too
    Only more complex, less dependable
Pick me, pick me; I grieve the most
Don’t you see my sad-eyed frown?

I rip to shreds these memories,
Because that’s just what I do,
Sitting in silence like a mute
    Who cannot cry, because tears
Tears of shame would be more apt
    On your silly fucking face.

    Recollections smeared across these walls
Like a thickened coat of grime.
    Their edges twisted, tattered
Like the bond that mashes us together.
Peel off these strips till fingertips
Bleed sweet, red droplets of effort
Because in the deepest, richest part of heart
I want them torn and trampled.

Sit down, little love; come shed a tear
    It won't matter if you cry;
    God watches over your dearest
    As seraphim braid her hair.
Oh, littlest love, didn’t you know
    The casketed corpse rotting below
Is giddy with disease & death
As she lies under your feet?

Sleep, they say, and sleep I do
As they mourn with sobs and squeals,
    Gurgling with phony sorrow;
    They were never even there,
Just wraiths hovering with one name,
    Aquiver with pretence, Abderian,
    Snorting and chortling like simpletons
That now wail and pale at her death.

And thus I will grieve quietly
    Till you leave with broken stares;
    I keep to obligations
    As you adhere to yours.
But know that when you die like her,
I won’t weep at your tomb,
Nor bawl in some trite tragedy,
    Stowed hidden in my room.
    You mean the barest smidgen;
I won’t feign grief in loss,
You won't be my sweet dearheart,
    My burden... my cost.
I’ll say goodbye and leave you
    Resting peaceful in your grave

    After I finish
    Resenting you
For what you did to her.

what goes up must come down!

Little pink pill so small and round
The kind that turns your whole life around
Gulp of water and lets drop it down

Aniexty now don't know weather to stand or sit
I know in half an hour its going to hit!
All of life's problems just drift away
Just lost in the moment, i want this feeling to stay

if only all world leader would take this pill,
no hate in this room just a pure adrenalin thrill
No fighting in sight every ones all loved up
Hugging random strangers, and wishing every one good luck

The feeling you get, makes you buzz inside
it's like your whole body is starting to rise.
I never want to come down, or things to be back to normal
As long as this drugs lasting, i'll spend the night dancing!

But it's not all good after your first time
you never get that feeling back of when you get high!
The rest of the time you spend chasing that buzz
and the come downs get worse, and last for days
you spend your life in a daze.

but for them few hours it takes you away
it makes you for get lifes worries
    it makes you not care.

It's like this drug makes me feel alive
When i'm not on it i could easily turn to the knife.
I'll admit that this drug is changing me
the monster inside is growing and need feeding,
With out it im angry, lonley and scared,
harrased and depressed i feel like pulling out my hair,

I'm glad i found help and that im clean now
the drugs i did didn't make me feel proud
    but the choice was mine
and one i don't really regret,
better a pill than turning to a blade.
Lifes all about experiences, and we learn from our mistakes
im just glad i got out before it was too late.

PoTW 76 (nature) winner. Congrats to Natalie who got almost 80% of the votes for this incredible poem.

    Natalie xOx

    If Only

As seasons pass and pass again,
    Flowers bloom and wither,
    Leaves lose their lustrous colour
    and downwards do they slither.

But have no worry, little one
    The trees are only sleeping
    When spring comes around again,
You will no longer hear them weeping.

Ah but if only we were like the plants
    So resilient against the weather,
Instead such fragile things are we,
    Bound to this short tether.

If only we were like the plants,
No longer would I be weeping,
Because like the trees in the winter,
I would know that you're only sleeping.
