If it feels any sense of awkward you two should talk about it and see if it is even worth being together. If you determine you two arent happy, you can work on it or just move on and break up.
Talk about it with him, if he doesn't want to talk about it, walk away, if he does, maybe there is something left fighting for... But he does sound a bit immature. In my opinion.
