MOD isn't GOD you know!

I'm getting a little bit sick and tired of some of the mods on here. It seems they come out with a new rule every 30 seconds. Now you can't say "Young" - that the latest one.

Meanwhile there are people flooding, flaming, gay-bashing, and posting about pee and scat and torturing kids and stuff and they take no notice of them whatsoever. But if you say the word BOY for example you'll probably get banned.

It's not all the mods who behave as if they are God - but some do - especially the newer ones who only took the job so they could ban ppl they dont like and find some sort of weird gratification in it

If you attempt to point this out you are threatened with a ban ( you listening EDDY?).

Today I got banned WITHOUT WARNING - presumably for daring to have the word OLDER in my nick OLDER FOR YOU . So you cant say YOUNG and you can't say OLDER now.

If this goes any further, the only names allowed will names of flowers or sumthing and the only convo will be the weather. Oh and the pee and scat and **** and torture which is fine apparently.

Is there any scrutiny whatsoever of the bans imposed? because there is certainly no consistency. Every ban should have a reason, should only follow pm'd WARNINGS and if the decision to ban is ill-founded the mod should be sacked if theres a patttern emerging.

There's a simple rule in business: if you constantly piss off your customers you'll soon find you don't have any.

Unfortunately we live in a world where some ppl do not know that there are just some areas off limits, which means that we have to be overly cautious for the safety of some who might not be able to defend themselves. You do have the option of going to the Administrator of the room you were in and questioning them. Remember they are not to blame, so try not to take out too much frustration on them. I know it is frustrating to be banned, and if the mod was wrong they will reverse it. But you must treat them with respect. I hope this helps some. Hmmmmm maybe you could look at this as an opportunity to get creative with your name. Scottish-guy is much better then older for you or anything like that. Until then good luck.

Undoubtedly there ARE people who deserve and need to be banned but I have seen many people being banned (including myself) for next to no reason and without warning. Meanwhile other post the most offensive content in open chat and are allowed to do so for hours on end with apparent impunity

You talk about warnings - again I repeat that I have been banned WITHOUT warning as have many other people. Again i repeat that some of the so-called reasons for banning people are plain ridiculous. what possible justification can there be for banning someone because their ID is "OLDER FOR YOU" when that person was not even chatting or posting in the room at the time? AND without any warning? Rules have to be seen to be sensible and fairly applied for people to respect them.

These are the sort of idiotic banning decisions which makes the GOOD mods who actually do their job well, look bad because of the actions of a few power-crazed ones.

I'm not sure what room you were in, but Singles does not have that rule. We do, however, not allow mom or dad in the user name. We always give three warning and then boots, then a bann. The only time that we give no warning is if a user is under the age of 13 and that is a automatic bann in our room. (Singles is 16++) You may want to pm the admin of the room you were in and try to resolve it that way. This thread will get little done.

I think that I understand your point more clearly now. Sorry. I have been banned before and I also got it reversed by going through the room administrator. In my case it too was without warning, and it ended up being a programming issue. Which may be your case, which is why I still suggest going to the room administrator. You will be able to accomplish many things that way. One of which is to inform them of the inconsistancies which they really might not be aware of. Maybe rectifying the issue at hand. Also you may get unbanned. As with any business, the owners or managers don't know of a problem if it is never reported. Maybe it will cause them to make more defined rules. I know that sometimes it is Chat Avenue that issues a new rule to the mods and the administrators because they see a problem or they are trying to make a pre-imted strike against a possible future problem. That is more likely the reason for rule changes. Just remember the mods are volunteers and they get a lot more grief then they do thanks for the job they do. Sometimes they are stuck between a rock and a hard space. But if they are abusing their position, reports to the Administrator is the only way to correct it. Good luck

Your reply does not address the issue at all. It pre-supposes that there is a valid reason for the ban. Why should I have to go begging to an Admin because some incompetent Mod bans me for no reason? I'm not that desparate to use the chatroom it just annoys me that there seems to be one rule for some people and a different one for others.

As for my ID of "Older for You" there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. What does it tell you? It tells you that I'm an older guy in an 18+ ADULT room and if you are in an 18+ ADULT room and are interested in Older Guys then you can msg me.

Isn't that fair? Isn't that just a little more honest than the 60yo's pretending they're teenagers for example? I know which of the two I find creepy and it isn't mine!

As for protecting people who can't protect themselves, just hang on a minute here, the GAY room is 18+ - it's not the KIDS room or the TEENS room

So instead of making a side-issue, why not address the content of my post as it is and not how you would like it to be.

The reason I said to talk to the admin, is because admin is the one that can lift banns. Also, they are the boss of the mods of the room.
