have you ever recieved abuse just bacause your gay?

i was speaking with a couple last night who worried me quite a bit..

one of them was in london, and had never been there before, so she asked a man if he knew how to get to a certain gay bar was.
as she was asking for a gay bar he grabbed hold of her, took her down an alley and beat her to near death.. she could hardly be recognised afterwards for her face was completely batterd, bruised and swolen.

the other was telling me how she came out when she was 15 to her best friend. they had been best friends throughout the hole of school so she trusted her with her life. however the next day after school, she was jumped by a group of 25 girls, who called her a dirty lezzer, a minge eater and a filthy little perve. she too could hardly be recognised as the kicked and puched her all over, including her face and head.

it really upset me hearing this.. how could people possibly treat us like this just because were gay?

im now doing a project on this as this really has to stop. i just wondered if any of you have recieved any kinf of abuse just for being gay?

it doesn't have to be as bad as this, i just want to know exactly what people have been through.
