Even though I lol at some of you adults who were owned by a card carrying member of Nambla still it is sad to think of those like Dragonsfire who view the net as a pasture to groom younger chatters to engage in acts which are illegal in most civilized places. Even though Jamie may be gone everyone knows there are probably hundreds of other drooling old coots waiting in the wings. The mods do the best they can to boot all the daddy etc name and related chat however I imagine how many lives may of been ruined due to a chance meeting between a personable young person and a person with evil intentions. It is the net but rooms like gay chat despite how well moderated they may or may not be do nothing but encourage these sick folks. I know the majority of gay chat users are decent people who want nothing more than to make friends and have a public forum to be able to share with like minded people which is great since at times the whole world seems against chat. However I feel that chat avenue should get rid of gay chat. One day some parents of a destroyed child will sue Chat Avenue. I know the same could be said for every single chat room but gay chat just encourages the sickest of the sickos. So despite this being controversial and probably closed I stand by the comment it is time to End The Gay Chat Room.

If gay chat were to be rid of, where would the gay members of this chat site, excluding myself, go to enjoy themselves with other gay members. I mean Girls Only chat will still be there for the Lesbians, but what about gay males? I do infact believe that the gay forum has run its course and should be removed aswell, but that is only me. Im sure there is something that can be done, instead of getting rid of gay chat entirely. Also, if Gay chat were to be removed, I do believe kids should be removed aswell, because that room is a shopping center for pedo.s and sick perverts. Kids, in every way, is far worse than gay chat would ever be.

if you want to protect kids...why dont you get rid of myspace? every other day on the news some kids been raped and kidnapped because of myspace. but yet its not going anywhere. the internet is becoming more and more dangerous, gettting rid of it isnt an option, fighting back with full force is.

i say we start banning everyone who talks excplicitly on main.

anyone with a sexual name, anyone looking for sex, as well as anyone we see that looks like a predator.

lets start making it very clear that gay chat isnt a place to sell yourself and hook up, and its not a cyberfest.

lets make it a normal chat room again.

Although I do agree with Cal that parents need to police their childrens net activity, in this day and age, parents are just too busy apparently. I don't know the reason, I just know it's not happening.

I have said many times that I believe gay forums needs to be removed. I don't know what good it would do to remove it, other than mainly to stop some of the gay bashing on this site.

But as far as gay chat goes, that place as everyone already knows is a cyber fest. That's all they want when they come in there. Cam, phone and meetings. Sure, we have a decent amount of mods now, but in reality we aren't able to use our own judgement on things and have to allow some questionable things in that room. It becomes a moral issue, I suppose. I think the gay chat room needs a little stricter guideline on the rules. Allow us to remove people versus warning over and over, those same people day in and day out. Sure there will be mods that may take that to the extreme, but their is very little conversation on the main and very little reaon for people to ban for personal agendas in that room, because we don't have your typical "reg" users.

A good example would be the use of the word "younger" in that room. If we have a user saying he's 30, 40 or 50 asking for younger, then we can remove him if he doesn't stop. However, if a younger user comes in there saying "younger for older" we can ask them to stop, but based on the rules, we can't really do anything about that. I just think that whole room needs a complete overhaul of the rules to help ensure we are protecting the room, the chatters and ourselves.

Granted, someone will come in here and claim it's all about wanting more power, say that if you will. But, in light of what has been "discovered" about Jamie, I do say there is pause for concern. Whether everything posted in here is true or not. Fact is, he is a registered sex offender. That is enough, in my opinion.

i think a few weeks of hardcore 'room cleaning' will destroy the reputation that chatroom has now as a safe heaven for people seeking perverted things online. if its known to be strict, yes the room numbers will go down some, but it will be like it should be, with people just talking again.

i go in there and ask 'anyone here NOT wanna talk about ***?' to see if i can get a conversation going, especially if im modding alone. and about half the time i get a response.

and most of our reg users in now are former mods, and its already improving, but it needs to go further.
