At what age did you suspect you were gay/bi?

This thread might have been done before, but a brief discussion in another thread in this forum started me thinking that the fact that I've been attracted to males for as long as I can remember made me unusual in this regard. (Not to mention the fact that this forum desperately needs a thread or two that doesn't involve bitching about what colored names are presently running Gay Chat).

I remember having a crush on a boy in my class when I was 8 years old (do most boys have crushes on girls at 8? I don't really know), but this is merely my earliest recollection of having a crush. I'm fairly certain that I admired male beauty even before that.

In fact, my adoration for boys/men began at such a young age that it began to flourish long before I realized that society viewed it as "wrong." At that age, "gay" was simply a random, derogatory term that kids used in the schoolyard. And although I kept my crushes somewhat secret, I didn't truly understand society's attitude towards gay people until I was 14.

i remember the exact moment i put two and two together and realized i was gay. i was 13 years old.

i knew what gay people were, but never having met any gay couples it seemed like a weird thing, like men who wanted to be women and such.

took 7 years of calling myself bisexual before i finally said fuck it im just gay.

edit: my boyfriend just reminded me of this, when we were younger like 11/12 we watched tv together after school and my little brothers would watch teletubbies and we made fun of the gay one 'tinky winky' and when we moved all the stuff out of my room years later we found a notebook where i had drawn a big purple triangle like the one on the gay teletubbie with a big red cross thro it.

i dont think ive ever laughed harder.

Like I am attracted to both sexes, I think.

I would say even younger, I was gay before I even knew what gay meant.

I had my first consciously gay thoughts when I was 14, but I ignored them, putting them down to adolescent gender confusion. I didn't actually acknowledge to myself that I was gay until I was 18, and even then I still fancied girls a fair bit. I've become steadily gayer since then, and now I'm as queer as a bottle of chips

It was because I never felt "different". A pity, as with hindsight I realised I missed a lot of opportunities!

When I had a crush on Craig and Bobby in 6th & 7th grades...I donno what ever happened to Craig, but Bobby turned out to be 150% gay so I also got my gaydar early on, too!

I myself suspected I was gay at the age of 13. I was walking with my friend to his house so we can play videogames and he said he had to change into his gym shorts before we played. He got completely naked in front of me and was saying things like "look how nice my body looks" and "god all the girls can't handle this". I said "yea you do have a nice body" and before you know it, he comes closer to me and kisses me. I punched him as a reaction.

But then he leaned in again for another kiss and I embraced the fact that I liked it. That is the night I lost my virginity to him.

Ummmm..... that was my story, but this is another story of someone who pmed me, asking me if I could post this for them under anonymous and I will respect that. So here it is.....

Listen Alex, they wanted to remain anonymous, but also wanted to share their story. I see nothing wrong with that and if they ask me to do it again, I will do it. I will continue doing that favor for them until they want to put their name out there. Until then, they can remain anonymous as long as the wish.

I first had an idea tht I was gay, but not until I was around 17, pushing it to the bck of my mind, it was not something tht was openly discussed in my family, (in fact anything of tht nature was never talked about, gay or str8), it was, however, another 10 yrs almost b4 i finally acknowledged the fact to myself, and to this day, 23 yrs later, my family do not *officially* know tht I'm gay, as I have never been able to find the words to tell them, I would imagine they would have to fairly stupid not to have guessed by now, in fact, over the years there have been little hints, from them tht they know, but we still do not say it openly and we all get on quite happily.

Some may think it sad tht we don't talk about it, but every family is different, and all my friends know of my sexuality, and are more concerned tht I am *me* not someone who pretends to be something I can never be, i.e. str8, they also like the fact tht I don't preach to any1 who'll listen, as my private life life is just tht, private, I have never discussed wht I do, or did with any1, except to say, "I had a good time, even if he didn't"
