quick dinner recipes?
ok so heres my problem. in my house we all get home around the same time, and that happens to be about 5/5:30. i dont wanna be one of those parents that just makes crap for dinner because there simply isnt enough time to do dinner, homework, baths and bed.
so basically weve got a handful of dinners we eat over and over again. and im looking for some new ones. ive looked online and everything looks like its off some stupid rachel ray cooking show, with peppers and onions and shit like that. my kids arent going to eat that.
so does anyone have any quick, good meals they make in their homes? like things you can just stick in the oven for half an hour then eat? i dont mind preparing stuff, but id rather not have every pan in my house dirty over one dinner.

my mom has the same problem- not because i don't like peppers and onions, but because we all get bored with the same food
growing up as an extremely picky eater, i was more than satisfied with spaghetti once a week
hamburgers were okay (hotdogs are too unhealthy)
i'd love to have mac 'n' cheese all the time, but that's not exactly nutritional
for something different, make your own hamburger helper type thing. just get a pound of ground beef and cook it in a pan with some pepper and salt, then add it to like two boxes of macaroni and cheese. it's not healthy, but it's not bad for every once in awhile, and if you can get them to eat fruit or something with it, it's not that bad
junky food put having fruit on the table along side with it is an easy way to get kids to eat a variety
i'll ask my mom some of the foods i liked the most and i'll get back to you

lol we do that, we call it cheeseburger mac. a box of velveeta and some ground beef.
and its not exactly healthy, but it keeps them full.
we also make cinncinati chili, keilbasa and perogies, grilled cheese and soup, chicken dishes, sausage and potatos, steak when we can, other pasta dishes.
and for veggies they both like green beans and sweet potatos. my daughter likes corn, my son likes peas and carrots.
ugh im aggervated just thinking about dinner tonight.

thanks jenna.
i love making french toast and stuff for dinner, but it usually winds up taking forever some how.
and their tastes are still very bland, the wont eat anything with peppers and onions, mushrooms and tomatos, even if i pick them out.
but i can always find recipes for casseroles with the soups.

my son refuses to eat mushrooms and peppers to
butttt
if I make nachos I slip them in and he has no clue.
Just cut them up small.
EDIT:
btw I was watching a show about kids eating habits.
they say it takes 10-12 times of getting a child to eat something before they can actually make up their minds if they really hate something or not.
of course as they get older it gets harder lol

so i gotta start cramming it down their throats now before i lose all hope.
for some strange reason they like stuff most kids dont like, like brocolii.
and refried beans weve just learned. those are kinda healthy.

My son is more apt to try different fruits and veges if I let him cut, cook etc.
He actually replaces chips with carrot sticks and dips them in yogurt or dressing.
A huge hit at my sons birthday party was cheese fondue
they dipped EVERY vege, bread you can think of.. and they actually asked for more
You could do the same with fruits except use chocolate
Another quick recipe
(and I know how much you love mac and cheese )
make your mac and cheese from scratch and add broccoli and ham to it
then bake
its really fast

the fondue thing would be good for a treat, but foods stop being healthy when you cover them in cheese, chocolate and ranch dressing.
and the mac and cheese bake...i can throw that together, but do you know what tempetature and for how long i should cook it?
