Gay Pride Marches in Europe
Hundreds of thousands have marched across Europe today (Saturday 28/06/2008 ), in support of GAY RIGHTS.
Needless to say, they have been met with torrents of abuse in former East European States.
What is amazing, is that the people that have cried out for National and Social Freedom, seem wanton when that freedom has to be extended to its gay fraternity.
Takes some believing really.
Na! spose it does not!
Czech Republic, marchers were harrassed and threatened by undrercover police, and at one point riot Police were deployed.
Bulgaria Crowds pelted marchers with eggs, as Police stood by, not that surprising really, just look at the way they treat their own minorities. How did they ever get into the EU.
Croatia Believe this or believe it not, these people that should know about hate, have been the most hateful towards the Gay Rights Marches. Takes some believing! really does.
Germany
In Germany, tens of thousands took part in the day including 95-year-old Rudolf Brazda, thought to be the last surviving person persecuted by the Nazis for his homosexuality.
Brazda was condemned to six months in prison in 1934 in accordance with a law forbidding *** between men. He was arrested again in 1938 and finally deported to Buchenwald in 1941.
"After the war I had a very happy life. We were no longer forced to hide as before when we were considered abnormal," he said.
"But thank God, today we are free," he added.
Paris
Paris tens of thousands more turned out for the annual event which took discrimination at school as its theme in France this year.
"At school people used to throw stones at me and insult me," said Jasen, a 15-year-old school pupil, who took part in the march.
Life at one time had been very difficult for him, he said, adding however that attitudes towards him had changed as his fellow students matured.
Pics and further comment to be added.

hi
there is so much ignorance in the world today . These countries are in the dark ages and this is just the first step for gay people there to be able to live and be who and what they want to. They don't have any freedom of expression or freedom to speak out (this being the heterosexual people) so I am sure it will take some time for gay rights to take hold anywhere over there.
This world Is not a just and fair place we all know this , But to keep on pushing up against is is the only hope rather than to succumb to the deep ignorance of it all.....

I should probably say that I'm surprised at this, but I'm not - and I never will be. People like to believe in their own heads that just because it's 2008, and a new Millennium, that things are much better in the world than they were ten or twenty years ago; and I believe that's a lot of wishful thinking! People have hated others because of their differences long before I was born, and they'll still be at it long after I'm dead. That may be a very profound statement on my part, but it's also a reality.

Whether its religious intolerance, or societal influences it just seems like being 'GAY' will take a lot more time to be accepted.
In these dark times, its somewhat inspiring to think back at how far we've come as a population. From the absolution of slavery, to womens equality. Even if we are moving ahead only superficially, with every generation and every new day there comes an opportunity for change and betterment. Through education and people not being as afraid, the wheels of equality slowly cog away from gay hate.
Will it ever be gone? Well, are there niches in our world that treat blacks and whites as equals? No. Are there niches in our world that treat women the same as men? No. Yet, we keep moving forward and we keep trying to make a difference.
Gay or Straight...No one said being yourself was easy--in fact, being yourself is probably one of the hardest things to do in this world.
But is there any other way to live?
