Gay chat and forum is failing in it's cause!

I am a psychology and sociology student who is attempting to create her first novel which is about homosexual relationships and homophobia. I believed this forum and chat would be helpful and truthfully it had provided some material but only of a negative nature unfortunately.
I find it difficult for anyone to post an intellectual or interesting thread here because it always seems to boil down to abuse, spamming, slander and bashing. I think this will achieve nothing except fuelling homophobia and hatred! when the site was created to promote positve communication, education and inspiration. It is disturbing to see certain moderators contributing to bashing people. Moderators are supposed to conduct themselves professionally and fairly for the good of the website but all too often they are people with a fragile ego who allow a tiny bit of power go straight to their heads and have a chip on their shoulder. I have seen bad reviews for chat avenue already on the net and heard constant complaints by users of unfair banns and bad treatment. I believe something should be done about the situation for everyones sake. Gay chat and gay forum is failing.

Some helpful tips:
Allow users to delete replies to their own posts.
This will help quickly destroy vicious replies.

Chat mods can have an interesting related topic to introduce to chat rooms on a daily basis.
This will allow decent conversations to be presented and reduce the amount of abuse or bordom within the chat room.

People, THINK and CONTRIBUTE more.

If you check out 'Debate' forum and 'World events and politics' forum you get some ....semi intelligent conversations and gay members of chat-avenue participate in those forums.

Might I also suggest that instead of trying to affect an overall change in the forum to suit your research you adapt your research to suit the forum, it would be more credible that way because your observing 'real' and not structured interactions.

You could pick certain members and observe their interactions with others within the forums.

.....just a suggestion.

We ban underagers when we are in the room, no room is modded 24/7.

I cannot create more lesbians for you to chat with in the lesbian side room. I am not God. I can however suggest you start using Girls Only chat.

I do not bash people in the chatroom. I have good natured e-fights with people in forums, because thats entertainment. In the end it gets deleted and no one cares anymore.

Also, my position as a mod is volunteer. I don't have to do jack shit except mod the chatroom once a day. What I say in forums has nothing to do with the chatroom.

And I slander you because I don't like your attitude and your lies. So put me on your ignore list if you don't want to read it.

I am not trying to change this entire forum based solely on my research LOL. I am conveying to people that this forum could be so much more than it is at present for all it's users and moderators. Why keep it the way it is now when it can be improved so much and the way it is now is abusive to people - that's erm not good to say the least. Just a suggestion!

Well wherever you go whatever room or forum you will find abusive chatters ,spamming,bashing etc, also homophobia is a problem sometimes as is p edos hanging around kidds and teen chat it happens because this is the net so you cant just put it down to gay chat and forum.

I dont think anyone goese on a power trip in any room i believe most mods conduct themselves well

and btw we are human have opinions and lives of our own.As for bad reviews well lol welcome to the internet and hey ppl in all walks of life running a business and even films and drama theatre gets bad reviews .but ya dont see ppl needing to fufill thier ego by having a go at ca.

A lot of things on the net will prove negative dont think ya gonna find many

)its a forum and ppl will be what they want they dont have to be like you or any1 else its a fun place to be a break fom every day life so ya know dont go to deep its the internet mister

Hi it's sad that you think every other forum and chat is like this believe me they are not. There are many other positive places on the net that i frequent.
I am not trying to FORCE people into anything I am merely responding to what I have witnessed and experienced. I believe in speaking up for what I believe in and am simply doing so.
I don't understand why people are so resistant to positve suggestion???
I also understand that when certain people are provided with a smokescreen of anonymity the nastier side of them can be unleashed sadly and cowardly.However they would probably conduct themselves much more pleasantly in real life and actually are nice people with much to contribute, all I am saying is it's ashame they don't do it here!
