Ruth vs. Soliloquy: Draw-Off - Open Medium
Ruth & I decided to have a draw-off.
Please vote and let us know what you think.
Original Image:
Ruth's Entry:
''originally i started out this drawing as an experiment along side my entry, but i really got into it so i continued working on it. being the genius that i am, i drew the hair first and outlines and left the face for last, which probably wasn't the smartest thing to do because it meant that i had to fit the face into a space instead of working everything else around it. i definitely did not plan for it to come out this way, but i'm pretty pleased with the end result (not so much in comparison to the original though)'' - Ruth
Soliloquy's Entry:
''It's been a really long time since I've done this type of artwork. Back in the day, I would just start with charcoal & then move to soft pastels; eliminating outlines & making it more floaty. Since that talent has dust on it now, I've done a simple pencil outline first till I was happy with key parts then I did the watercolor washes on it. Once it dried, I used the soft pastels and afterwards, I ended with charcoal & white hard pastels to bring out highlights. I've taken this with my iPhone for my scanner freaks out on me; the glow is a little off but I'm still happy with it.'' - Soliloquy

Hahahaha the money-making opportunity is over for me; I'm 31 now.
I've gone to Center for Creative Studies for 3 semesters before dropping the idea all together and moving on to something else; it was when I was around 18 till I was close to being 20.
---------------------------------
I voted for Ruth because seriously the method she's taken in her direction is a very difficult one and I'm not sure if mine would've turned out anywhere like that had I done the same thing.
Amazing piece of work.

Ruths.
It was bold and stood out to me.
Soliqouifnesgvrge's looks dirty and unfinished.
And that's not the look I like on a lady

Oi, Ruth. What happened to the, keeping the hair the way you've did it in your entry, but using shading techniques for the face (and any other section where skin is visible) ?
