Default The War of Nations

(So here it is the mecha rp! I got bored halfway through the history lesson and fun facts.)

-The War of Nations-

June 6, 2391 A.D.-America withdraws all troops from every foreign country, three weeks (July 4) later they begin the War of Twelve Nations with the invasion of Canada. Canada falls in the first week of attack and America creates the Great Western Federation. The CEE (Allied Forces) scrambles to prepare for war against America. Tonperina comes to the aid of America (Expansionist Forces).

August 8, 2391 A.D.-After a week of shelling from joint Expansionist Forces, Madrid becomes the first piece of Allied territory in Europe lost.

November 15, 2391 A.D.-The war goes to France as Allied forces try to stop the advancing horde. Expansionist Forces are stopped outside of Paris after weeks of fighting, bunker down for the winter.

January 1, 2392 A.D.-The beginning of the New Year shows hope as Expansionist Forces are pushed back from Paris. Death toll reaches 250,000 on both sides.

January 21, 2392 A.D.-After pushing back EP forces at the start of the month, the momentum is lost as Paris falls to opposing forces.

April 3, 2392 A.D.-Death Toll reaches 500,000 on the Allied side, 300,000 on the EP side. Morale starts to drop as Opposing forces start to storm across Europe. Russia enters the fray in Germany.

June 6, 2392 A.D.
-Russian forces help alleviate the burden and halt the advancing Expansionist Army outside Nuremburg, Germany. Three days later the tide turns again.

June 9, 2392 A.D.
-America unveils the first Vanguard unit. Nuremburg falls. Russia begins work on creating Vanguards for their forces. Allied Forces fall back to Berlin.

November 18, 2392 A.D.-Berlin is still under siege as the armies’ battle street to street. Russia releases its first Vanguard units into battle at Berlin. The Russian units put up a valiantly fight but are defeated by the more experienced EF pilots. Germany falls.

December 23, 2392 A.D.-Poland’s landscape is decimated by Vanguard battles as the EF proceeds onto Russia. Russia puts up better resistance and the EF is stalled outside of Lodz, Poland.

January 15, 2393 A.D.-The EF suffers the worst defeat since January of the previous year. EF Vanguards in Poland have been nearly destroyed by their Russian counterparts. Russia pushes rival forces back into
Germany.

March 23, 2393 A.D.-America unveils its newest weapons, the Guardians and VLS’. The War changes drastically as Vanguards are placed behind enemy lines thanks to the giant, double-rotor Guardians. A stalemate is reached on the Germany-Poland border. Current Death Toll: EF-729,347 CEE-856,031.

Fun Facts:
  • ·There are neutral countries in the world. (I.E. Australia, New Zealand)
  • ·A little about the world that this is set in, technology is more sophisticated than ours, though war technology is not.
  • ·There was a period of peace and prosperity in the world between the periods of 2145 and 2375.
  • ·The beam weapons used are experimental so they still used gunpowder based weaponry.
  • ·Vanguard armor is a highly-advanced Kevlar-based metal that is very dense but can still be penetrated by Kinetic Energy weapons. (I.E. Sabot rounds)
  • ·Vanguards have a crew of three: Pilot, Armorist, Ammunitions expert. Pilot is the only one that goes into battle.
  • ·Even though it says nothing in the history up top, there are naval battles going on, they are not tide turners to the land battles.
  • ·The battlefields have men from different countries, use different languages in your posts with a spot at the bottom telling what is said. English is the common language in both the EF and AF.
  • ·Phaighgar is the most primitive of the Factions, though it is also the largest. GWF is the smallest but strongest.
  • ·People distrust Phaigs and Zararians.
  • ·Occupation can be anything though soldiers start at the frontlines in Germany, along with Vanguard pilots.
  • Nationality for GWF can only be Canadian or American

Aaaaaare any ages allowed? Like, say...young teens? Because being a child prodigy would be awesome. Skilled in battle but inexperienced in the real world along with dealing with puberty = awesome. As many mecha animes have proveded.

I'll dib this spot, too and edit mah profile in whenever I like...come to post it. :]

Ffffffffffffffff.
Name: Evangeline Taylor. Eva or Eve for short.
Gender: Female.
Age: 14.
Faction: CEE.
Nationality: British. English specifically.
Occupation: Class A/S Vanguard Pilot. (As it would probably change from covert missions to big bad front-line shit at some point.)
Description: Vanguard:

Evangeline:

History: When Evangeline was born it was almost immediately obvious she had higher than average intelligence, and her father made sure she always had the best tutors available to encourage her mind to grow.
Her father is a well-respected member of British Parliament and having previously been a Colonel in the army is heavily involved in military affairs.
Due to her father's involvement in the military Evangeline naturally learned about it early in life and had always taken a liking to the idea of being a pilot, dreaming that one day she'd be able to become one and save the world like a superhero. When the war broke out and it was realised how serious a threat the GWF was, and how much every little bit counted in battling them, reluctantly, her father agreed to have her trained.
Like almost everything else she took to it immediately and was soon trying to convince her father to let her be trained as a professional pilot. As she'd already mastered her basic training, meaning it would take no time away from her learning the basics in protecting herself, he allowed her to do so, if only to keep her happy. Though he never wanted her to get involved in fighting he knew that at some point later in life, especially if she started training so early, she might be able to help a great deal.
As soon as she knew others were being trained in piloting Vanguards in the base she trained at she begged and pleaded to try out piloting one herself, though her father didn't allow her until they'd been thoroughly tested and used in battle, so he knew she'd be safe. However he never expected she'd excel as much as she did; she'd finally found her greatest talent.
Highly against his daughter fighting at all, let alone at such a young age, he eventually had to make a very difficult decision. Evangeline pleaded with him once more, and possibly only because of this did he finally give in completely, and allow her to go into training for real combat.
Evangeline moved up through the ranks of pilots swiftly, and was soon piloting an A class Vanguard. Slowly but surely the decision was made that she would be put into real combat; her skills were almost unmatched and she was, as all the highly skilled pilots, one of the best hopes of winning the war, one battle at a time.
Most missions she's assisted in have been covert operations, working in medium to large teams, the fact that she'd be undercover being her father's last hope of keeping her from harm; only on a few occasions has she been in more direct, full blown battles, and those have been smaller ones with many fighting alongside her. No one but those closely involved with her knows of her real age; she even has a voice changer to make sure it's not revealed.

~
Gosh, I feel bad going for this sort of cliché teen prodigy child thing, but I couldn't resist, it's s' damn fun.

(She can join later if she wants.)

Marcus stood atop the shoulder of his C class Vanguard and looked out towards the Russian lines with a pair of high-powered binoculars. He slowly scanned the enemy's trenches looking for a sign of weakness that would allow them to break through with Vanguards. There was no such spot, it seems the stalemate will last even longer.

The inboard radio crackled to life with the sound of a gruff male voice. "Raven report, over." Marcus gingerly dropped into his pilot seat and flipped the switch to converse back.

"Raven here, incoming report. Over." He plugged the binoculars into the wireless transmitter and sent in the information.

"Report received, A.P. Two clicks north, scavenge and fly high. Over and out." Marcus switched off his radio and closed the hatch. His new orders told him to hit and run the column to the north. Marcus sighed and pressed down on the accelerator. That was the thing he loved about his machine, two omnidirectional wheels on the bottom of both feet allowed for fast movement in any direction. On top of that, all four wheels could be raised into the feet to allow for stealth movement.

"Let's see what these reds and brits can do against a normal C class."
He said aloud in the small control room. After a ten minutes or so, Marcus approached the spot the A.P. column was supposed to be at, and the info wasn't wrong as the A.P. appeared over a nearby hill. They were on course to pass him by. The armored personnel he had to hit was a group of five tanks and one APC. These were british units from the flag painted on the sides. He smiled to himself, "Easy Pickings." He lifted his Vanguard's left arm and held out the triple barrelled .50 caliber, grabbing the side handle for better aim.

The rumbling of the tanks grew louder as they neared, Marcus had already formulated his plan. He would wait for them to pass then hit them from the back, where the tanks will be at a disadvantage. The column began their pass of his location the rumbling of their engines drowning out all other noise. The APC was bringing up the rear of the column and as it passed, Marcus took his chance. He slammed on the accelerator and began pumping API rounds into the APC. The column stopped immediately as Marcus made his way to hide behind the APC from the tanks. When he got there the back was opening to let out the soldiers to help defend against the Vanguard, they never saw it coming.

"It's like shooting fish in a barrel." mused Marcus as he finished pumping rounds into the damaged APC. Bodies littered the inside of the enemy vehicle, torn apart from the force of his rounds. Only two were able to get out, they didn't live long. The tanks began moving again, this time to move around the obstruction behind them. Their turrets were facing towards him, so he began to move. Each tank let out a loud roar as their 120mm smoothbore barrels let loose a destructive kinetic round. If it wasn't for his vanguard's quick speed and mobility he would have fell there. Even as he was dodging he was firing away rounds into whichever tank was nearest him. Marcus realized that he had taken out the main target and could leave the tanks alone. He began the disengage procedure and sped off towards the nearby forest in a zig-zagging pattern. Tree's exploded as the tank rounds crashed through trying to reach their mark. They never would though, he was already in the woods. He flipped on his radio, "Raven here, soared through the air on a gust, over."

"Raven, the nest is waiting." replied the male voice.

Evangeline was sitting at the desk in her room at the base. She spent so much time there that she'd made the space her own, bringing things from home to make herself comfortable. She was resting her head on top of her arms on the desk, her eyes closed, waiting for something interesting to happen; she'd not been on a mission in a few days now, despite the current stand off situation the two sides were in on the Germany-Poland border.
She looked out of the window. It was a sunny, clear day. The sky was a bright blue and several fluffy white clouds could be seen. It was strange how peaceful things could be in spite of the position the world was in; right in the middle of a world war.
The fact she hadn't been given another mission meant either that there weren't any at the moment or her father was reconsidering her position as a pilot due to things heating up. She seriously doubted it was the first reason.

Evangeline decided it was time to speak to her father and find out. She got up and pulled her jacket on, stepping out of her room and making her way through the base. On the way she heard someone calling her.
"Hey, Eva!" She turned around to see it was Elizabeth Morgan, one of the pilots she was often teamed up with, and one of the few who knew she actually went out on missions. She smiled to her.
"Hi, Liz."
"I heard you broke your old record again this morning," she smiled back, catching up and walking beside her.
"Well, there's not much else to do around here, so I thought I should keep my skills sharp."
"Mmm. Where you off to now?"
"Going to see my father, see if I can find out why I've not been assigned a new mission yet."
"Oh, don't be too hard on him about it, Eva, you know he's only looking out for you. I mean, I've seen how good you are at this stuff, but I still wonder if you should really be out there at all. I'd hate to be in his position, having to make that choice."
Evangeline remained quiet for a moment before answering this time, "Yeah... I know. I'll go easy on him. I just want to know, even if he is holding me back. At least I won't be wondering then."
"Okay," Elizabeth patted her on the shoulder, "well, I'd better get going. I'll see you later."
"'Bye, Liz."
"'Bye."

Evangeline continued to her father's office and knocked on the door. "Come in."
She opened the door and walked in to see her father knee-deep in files. "Hey Dad," she lifted a hand to wave as she sat down in the chair the other side of his desk.
"Oh, Eva sweetheart. How are you?"
"I'm fine. What about you? You look very busy, I could come back later?"
"Oh, no, it's all right. I'm just looking a few things over again. What is it you wanted, darling?"
"Well I was just wondering if any new missions have come in yet? It's been a few days since I got back...usually I at least hear about an upcoming assignment or something."
Her father paused for a moment, adjusted his glasses and then looked back up at her over the file he was reading. "Actually, there's a reason for that."
Inside Evangeline sighed, she'd known this was coming.
"I've...been meaning to talk to you about it. But it's difficult."
"Dad, I know you don't like me being out there, but it's not like you're forcing me to, I want to help out," she reassured, "People need me."
"I know, darling, but...that's not it, this time."
She stopped and looked at him, confused. "What do you mean?"
He sighed heavily and placed the file down, lacing his fingers together. "I've been discussing something with...a lot of people; board members, generals, politicians - for some time now. We need more people on the frontline. We need something to make a real difference. A lot of the most skilled pilots have been being moved up to S-Class and...we've been considering...promoting you, too."
Evangeline wasn't sure what to do. She was stunned. She sat there, looking at her father, unsure of what to say to him.
"You haven't been assigned a new mission since your return because we're in the final stages of this decision. Meaning we may be promoting you within the next few days." He paused for a long moment, then sighed again. "This was just another in a long line of hard decisions for me to make as your father, Evangeline. My decision...all comes down to you. You'll still be assigned some A-Class missions here and there when you're needed, but mostly it would be specialised missions and work on the frontline as you'd have one of the most powerful Vanguards available. I don't want your answer now, I want you to give it some consideration; don't just rush in headfirst. This is a big decision to make and I want you fully aware of all the details before you make your choice. I, along with some other people, will be explaining those details to you over the next few days, and you can ask me anything you need to know," he stood and walked around the desk, leaning down on one knee in front of his daughter and taking her hands in his, "and Eva...you don't have to do this. You do a lot of good work as is, you don't have to take this risk, too. Do you understand, sweetie?"
She nodded slowly, just about managing to take it all in. "I understand, Dad." She smiled.
"That's my girl." He returned the smile and pulled her into a hug.
Evangeline had a lot of work cut out for her in the next few days, but really, she was looking forward to it.

Nathan walked slowly along the halls. His eyes were focussed ahead of him, to the door on the far side of the hallway. He didn't bother greeting passerby's. He was deep in thought. The last covert mission he'd performed had left his Vanguard in almost critical status. The energy blade on the right arm had malfunctioned exploding inside the arm before it could be released. It had almost cost him the mission.

He was heading to the garage now. The door opened before he neared it and he headed inside quickly. The room was dark, lights flickered, sparks erupted. There were Vanguards lined up all along the walls. Several technicians were tending to one on the right. He nodded at them as he passed. His Vanguard was located somewhere near the back. Two men were working on the arm, one was climbing down the ladder, whilst another was holding a chart on a clipboard on ground level.

"Mr. Ford," said Nathan as he neared the large man. Mr. Ford was a fairly round individual. His hair was greying and balding at the top. He had a white apron on and red slacks under that. "How's it coming along?"
"Just fine," replied Mr. Ford, not turning around to look who was talking to him. "Seems there was a short circuit in the arm. We're not quite sure how it happened," he said.
"So when will it be ready to go?" Nathan asked.
"It should be ready by this afternoon."

Nathan nodded and headed back out the Garage. It didn't take long for him to run into another Vanguard pilot. A Class B, skinny, cocky pilot named Rod. "Hey Nathan," he said.
"Oh hi, aren't you meant to be on the field?" Nathan asked.
"Just got back. Hear from Marcus?"
"Not yet," Nathan replied. "Heard he took out several AP's though?"
"Yeah, he's not back yet?"
"No, listen I have to go get ready, heading out tomorrow morning."

Marcus piloted his Vanguard through the undergrowth, on his way back to the depot. His radio was spewing forth propaganda to the local populace as he was back into GWF space and safe from detection. The Vanguard burst through the undergrowth and onto a repaired road, this seemed to startle a group of greens that were on patrol. Marcus laughed and turned his radio to the sentry stations, hoping to catch word of any rival mechs. To his disappointment nothing had happened and the soldiers were just telling stories from home. He occasionally joined in with the banter of his fellow soldiers. He was listening to a story a soldier was telling about a girl back home when his radio cut out and was replaced with a computerized voice asking for an authorization key.

"1337-5p34k-f7w." He responded. The authentication process took a few more seconds and finished with the voice welcoming him home. A set of gates loomed up in front of him and began to open to allow him passage. This was the closest thing he had to a home out here.

(There fixed, stupid thing got messed up somehow.)

{{Just something to keep things rollin'.}}

The next day was Eva's first time in the new model, the S class. She took a seat in the Vanguard, getting used to things. They seemed pretty normal, only the outside was bigger. There were some differences though, for one it was in fact far more advanced than the A class. These models were made specifically, and it was almost as though it had been designed for her personally, though she doubted that to be true. It could be used for both covert missions and heavy, full on combat, and both the weapons and defenses were much more developed than she was used to. It was exciting though, like being given new toys to play with. She ran her hands over the cool interiors, pressing a few buttons to try out their functions.
"Ready for your first training session, Eva?" came her father's voice over the radio.
"Yes. I'm ready!" she answered enthusiastically as she strapped herself in and readied herself.
"Then let's begin."
