Hillary Clinton "asks priest who painted miraculous image of Our Lady”.

During a visit to Mexico City, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. There, she saw the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which Roman Catholics believe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531.

Mrs Clinton was received on Thursday morning by Monsignor Diego Monroy, the rector of the basilica, and left a bunch of white flowers "on behalf of the American people".
According to the Catholic News Agency, Mrs Clinton gazed at the image for and then asked Msgr Monroy "who painted it?". The response from the nonplussed priest was emphatic: "God!"
CNA also reported that when the former First Lady left the basilica she told some of the Mexicans gathered outside to see her that "you have a marvellous virgin".

Yes, we are laid back...but as a Catholic I do find it offensive..she should research more before she goes blabbing....

Fair question in my opinion. Given it is much more likely it was actually painted by a monk and then hailed as a miracle.

Yea I agree it was an honestly placed question. You see a painting or etc that you find interesting, you ask who made it.

NO KIDDING! If this is the worst she does ...we are sitting pretty. I don't think it can be thought offensive. It was a fair question. Now, the virgin comment, if actually made, I think was a little out of line.
