Boston Police Dept. Surveillance camera at the Marriott Copley captures suspect in the murder of Julissa Brisman (below).
Security video at two
New England hotels could lead police to the cold-blooded
craigslist killer of a
New York model shot to death in
Boston, authorities said Friday.
The Thursday night robbery attempt of an exotic dancer in
Warwick, R.I., bore striking similarities to the brutal killing of
Manhattan masseuse
Julissa Brisman two days earlier in a luxury Boston hotel, authorities said.
The suspect in both attacks was described as a a clean-cut white man, 6 feet tall, with blond hair and a medium build. And both victims - along with a Boston hooker assaulted last week - were apparently targeted through ads placed on craigslist.
"There are strong similarities here based on the information that we have, particularly the fact that there is a an individual who seems to fit the [Boston] description," said Warwick Police Chief Stephen McCarthy.
Cops were comparing surveillance video from the tony Marriott Copley Place hotel and the
Holiday Inn Express in Warwick.
The
Rhode Island victim, a 26-year-old woman from
Las Vegas, noted the "mirror-imaged" attacks when speaking to police, authorities said.
She had placed an ad offering in-room dancing. But when her client arrived, he tied the woman up at gunpoint, police said. The woman's husband burst into the room and rescued her.
Two days earlier, Brisman was found dead in a pool of blood inside a 20th-floor hotel room.
The attractive model had a minor criminal past, with an arrest in June 2002 for stealing $3,763 worth of merchandise while working at
Macy's.
Brisman, 26, who was battling an alcohol problem, made full restitution, said friends and law enforcement. She she spent six days at
Rikers Island after a 2006 arrest on an unspecified charge.
