Finding a b/f via the net vs the scene vs ?

I am looking at tapping into the collective wisdom of Chat Avenue...(waits for jaws to stop dropping and ppl to get back in their chairs)
...does finding a b/f via the net work? I know looking in chat rooms is probably a very unlikely place to find one, though I have made a few good friends via the chat room (most are 100s of miles away), but what are my other options. A few of my m8s have suggested trying a dating agency/site but I'm not sure which are decent ones (or pay more than just lip service to "men looking for men") and the ones that come up on google searches seem to be more for hooking up than dating.
The scene - I tend to go for drinks with m8s and enjoying the crowd I am with rather than anything else (I cannot hear conversations if there is background noise - something I was born with).
I also play for a gay football team and socialise through that and they're a great crowd, but probably know them too well, lol
What are my other options? (Be nice if you can, puts on fireproof underwear)

It all depends. Some find love on the net and end up meeting, falling inlove, getting married later on down the line and having a happy life. Some just come on to find a good time. The net is a pretty hard place to truly relate, understand, and connect with a person. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is difficult. I do wish you the best of luck and hope you find what you seek whether it be irl or on the net.

I live in Manchester, UK, so ive found just getting out there and going to the ledgendary "gay village" is the best form of meeting like minded people and some very good friends

As for the net - well if dating and adult are anything to go by, its mainly just hook-ups on here as well as on the dating sites, so i try to avoid meeting people for relationships online.

Of course you can find a b/f on the net. Anyone can because you're basically typing words on a screen to someone who can remain anonymous. Remember they all have pics but few can't seem to work a cam. That tells you they're either horrific looking or married heterosexuals looking for a laugh.

As for dating and adult chat just being hookups, the same can be said for all the rooms given the number of e- relationships in here.

The net is a great place to spend a couple of hours to chat, and have a little fun, BUT, I learn't the hard way never to date on the net again. Coz I was fooled, by someone, that seemed genuine, and at the end of the day was a criminal, with charges, I couldn't believe.. Maybe, It happens but the net for me is just that, Chat and fun, besides a few that I have known beyond the net.

So what I am trying to say is stay to reality and not rely on e-b/f...

Scene people are just terrible. They're into the drugs, the sex and the stds.
If you want someone to care for and care for you.. Stay away from the scene. They usually aren't into monogamy and usually don't want to care about you.
The internet is a good place to meet people, chatrooms not so much.
I've had a tonne of girlfriends and some boyfriends from the internet.. They don't amount to girlfriends and boyfriends you find at parties or through friends.
Just stay you and someone will come along. Try and make more friends by doing activities that get you involved with other people.. Someone will come along that has decency that way.

I guess online works if you are completely honest from the beginning. You can only depend on some sites to help you though. Chat lines are bad. Forums kinda. Email to email would probably be the best.
