Spanking/abuse

Spanking/abuse is, in my opinion, a terrible thing to do to a child. I mean, who would want to lay a hand in anger on a child? Spanking/abuse shows children that it's okay to get physical with people. That's the exact opposite of what we should be teaching our kids. We should be teaching them that they have to talk about things like rational human beings, not like power-crazy jackasses. I once saw a mother (25-years-old or so) and her young daughter, who was probably no more than seven at the time. The young girl stepped two feet in front of the mother. This caused the mother to pull the girl out of sight and spank her time and time again. She hit her daughter about eight times before they came out again. The young girl was crying her eyes out. How could somebody do that to a child? I think spanking/abuse is a bad thing, no matter how it's done. Belt, hand, etc. I don't care. It's still a terrible thing to do to a person so helpless and weak. My father used to hit me with a belt when I was young. I never deserved it. All I had to do was spill milk and he would go mad. My mother and I left him, and we both refuse to speak to the *******. When you are spanking a child, you say to yourself, "The little prick deserves it." If you spank a child, imagine the pain and suffering he or she goes through. Why would somebody do that to a child? It's insane. The southern folk here might think that I am a "heart-bleeding Liberal". Well, they are right. I, unlike those thick-headed Republicans, actually care about people. So, I ask you now: Is spanking/abuse a good thing or a bad thing?

The kids who get spanked are lucky. My moms used to make us kneel in the corner with raw uncooked rice under us.

Some people simply dont have the mental capacity to bring up a well adjusted child. Its more to do with mental abuse then physical but physical abuse aids in dysfunction.

Kids can't be rational. However, parents should sit down with their children and explain why they were punished. The punishment is a re-enforcement of the explanation.

Spanking is all right as long as you don't go overboard. In my book, overboard is five times. Just enough to get the point across that it's not ok to do something hurtful on purpose. The kid realizes that it hurts and devides that they won't do it again.
