Default John Lennon

Does anybody like John Lennon? He is, in my opinion, one of the greatest performers of all time. He was also such a great songwriter. My favorite song of his is "Imagine". He left us way too soon.

i respect the guy and the beatles, but i dont like him/them that much, i like a few of their older songs like she loves you and i wanna hold your hand, and a few of the later songs like come together are brilliant, lennon definately belongs in the list of people who 'left us too soon' in my opinion jimi hendrix, freddie mercury, dimebag darrell and jeff buckley top that list

I love Lennon. Both his and Yoko's Plastic Ono Band albums are great; so are their trio of "experimental" albums that everyone hates (Two Virgins, Life With the Lions, The Wedding Album).

At least he was one of the few pop performers that acknowledged the handful of modern electronic composers that nearly every modern artist has been influenced by directly or indirectly but doesn't give a damn about (i.e. Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage; the former of which was featured on the cover of Sgt. Pepper)

Also, interestingly, both Plastic Ono Band albums have been cited as early punk influences. His/their solo work was more innovative than anything the Beatles did, at least.

Yeah, Lennon's alright. I'm not so educated, because I get easily distracted and there's no pumping bass, fast movements or lights that promote seizures... =/

I don't find him much of a performer because he never convulsed on stage, or spat at the audience.

But- He brang some individual thoughts for the times..

And- Artists normally don't get acknowledged so much, until they're dead.

Lmaooo

Good Point.
I like John Lennon, on some songs, he wasn't a great singer though. I hated ''Imagine'', I liked ''Woman'', though.

Yes, I do. I'm not a big fan of his solo career, but I love the Beatles.

I love listening to those old Beatles radio interviews they still play on the radio on Sunday mornings.....I've never heard John Lennon be anything but humble and sweet. He seemed like a funny, loveable guy.

Of the entire Beatles/Lennon era, the late Beatles sound was my favorite. White Album, Revolver, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper.....you get my drift.

Lennon is overrated in my opinion, don't get me wrong I believe he was a good songwriter and a good singer but that's what he was, good, he wasn't great. I think the only reason he is consistantly rated above his long time writing partner in polls is because he is dead, if they were both still alive now then McCartney would be the most appreciated, compare Lennon's work with Ono to McCartney's work with Linda (Wings etc) and tell me honestly that over the body of work that they both produced after the split of the Beatles that John's was better then Paul's up until Chapman murdered him.

As a writing partnership they produced some superb songs and albums and changed the shape of pop music but neither made that much impact as soloists and Lennon's star only grew back after Chapman shot him.

Ye john lennon is a legend and imagine is sutch a beautiful song the lyrics are perfect i think he was also a bit mad tho but in a good way he was just as famouse for his campaining to witch ultimately cost him his life but he made sutch an important contribution to the world through both his music and his human rights campaining.

A TOTAL AND UTTER LEGEND.
