Post Java for Fedora Core 4

I have linux Fedora Core 4 fifth adition on my E:\ Drive and it has fire fox but it won't load Java , my IE's keeps closing on it's own and windows crashes heaps. I have tried to use the chat rooms but I need Java, I'm not even sure if Linux would work with Digichat, any idea's

EDIT: I'll try Limewire to download Java for Linux

yeha...but...how? was it an rpm? what package did you install? was it missing any dependencies? do you even know if it needed any dependencies that you ignored? have you checked the browser settings for java? do you have the right path for the java install defined in the browser? does it prompt you to install it? have you disabled your automatic installtion options for firefox?

some...if not all...of those questions are important in determining why your java doesn't work...at the very basic...those are the questions that cover what might be causing the problem...at the very basic...

if you don't know what you're doing with linux...than i wouldn't suggest using Fedora Core as your starting point...try somehting like Ubuntu...that's very noob friendly for installations and hardware compatability..foredora core is more...server related now that redhat has been dropped...

well you obviously have problems with fedora core if you don't know how you installed java...and wasn't able to answer the questions i asked...and still unable to use it with the browser...
