Default Final Fantasy XII

Any fans who have not been daunted by the mediocrity of recent FF titles feel free to add other bits of information about it.

You either love em or hate em but Final Fantasy is back, and hopefully it will not disappoint like the last few instalments for the PS2.

Final Fantasy XII is looking rather good, it seems to be going back to the roots of what Final Fantasy VII was all about, airships and combinations of science and magic, just like Final Fantasy VII, which has to be the best of the series STILL, sure they looked like lego characters but the graphics was the last thing you took into account.

In this instalment battles aren’t going to be separate from the adventuring world, instead going to be seamless. I’m not sure I like this but I’m sure I could learn to like it, I know the random battles on World Maps etc got on peoples nerves. (Except actual final fantasists who can’t get enough battles to level up on.)

You can control individual party members, although they trail behind your lead (as in FF8, which was more hilarious than a masterstroke.)

Monsters can be non-aggressive as well as aggressive, and they’ll give chase for a certain distance before giving it up.

As for the levelling up I’m not sure, does anyone know? I hope its like Materia, even Drawing was kind of cool but Materia was wicked.

Summoning is back in force, but apparently it depletes your MP to 0 every time you summon.

As other FF fans may, or may not know, popular Japanese magazine Famitsu which are strict on the ratings it gives to its games, gave it a perfect score of 40, and only 5 or 6 other games received that score.

The Japanese version has been out in March, but I think we’ll be getting it sometime soon.

Wow I’m so bored I made a thread about FF.

What I really love about Final Fantasy is the Originality. . .

When I played Final Fantasy X, I was really disappointed.

What Happened to the Original White Mage Characters . . The Squall Jackets . . . I mean It really did drastic measures too change it, and frankly the change was not good.

I still do love Final Fantasy as much as the next person.

R.C. The way they dress now in X, XI and XII are too over-rated.

Vaan looks like a woman and They look like they all came from India.

My favorite was VIII with Squall... fuck Cloud. xD

IX was, um, was it even a FF? xD

I think X was pretty nice, I liked Lulu, alot. But I can't say the same about X-2... too damn girlish for me, but I did like Paine, alot too xD. Perhaps they were trying to get more of a female audience for X-2. Or even some horny perverted lowlifes or something. I don't know. The game ain't too bad... me thinks. =/

I was pretty pissed off about XI finding out it was Online... that was a no-no for me. >=(

XII looks like it's going to be pretty damn good. In my opinion, all the FF are good, enjoyable, and ofcourse, time consuming like no other. V_V

Don't forget about XIII and XIII Versus though. Which is another reason why PS3 is TEH BOMB. =)

Did you see the Tokyo game show snippts of MGS4?

Holy ****! I'd prefer the japanese version with subtitles, because Snake sounds so ****ing cool and makes Snake a lot more, less David Hayter I guess.

It looks amazing, not to mention Killzone, the cell processor is going to blow 360 to **** when it comes out.

As for Squall yeah he was cool, I enjoyed 8, the summons and the music were dead good, I was even sad enough to download some from blue laguna, like Beatrixs theme from F9 and Esters from F8, plus succession of witches, and piano renditions of F8 music.

I ALSO heard of a FFVII remake for the PS3!

I'd buy it if that came out for it, perhaps the graphics of Advent children, which almost seemed like a tease, or a prolonged FMV.

I liked final fantasy 8 as well. It's opening cut scene is one of the best I've seen for any system. Squall was kick ass and one of the best character designs for any game. His character depth wasn't that great but the character depth for most FF games isn't that great. In a way that's strange because FF games are fundamentally built on story lines which characters are an important part of. But if you examine the games, the parts of the story that are emphasized are the fantasical setting and the major conflict. So the story can get by without a lot of character depth and perhaps even better than if they had developed the characters further (doesn't slow the game down). Surprisingly, there were many ppl who disliked FF7. Mostly these ppl are the ppl who loved the previous games because of their setting, which was a medieval one. FF7 expanded upon this which I think was a good thing in the end as it made the way for FF8 (LOL) and took the game to a whole new level. FF9 went back to FF's roots with mixed success. The newest FF's are trying to expand the genre of RPG's, but they're really just changing it into a 3rd person shooter/hack and slash MMORPG which i think is the wrong direction. FF started as an rpg and it should end as one. If you're going to improve on the genre you should come up with new features and ideas, not add ones that were just used in other games.
