Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3 vs. Wii
GameDaily has produced an article, focusing on the upcoming console war. Here's a couple of excerpts from it:
---------------------------------
Xbox 360 vs. PlayStation 3 vs. Wii
The greatest war in the history of gaming is nearly upon us. It's time to break everything down.
It's almost time. Oh yes, it's almost time. The Xbox 360 has been available for over six months, and soon the next generation console wars will reach critical mass. This November, Sony will release the PlayStation 3 to the world, while reports indicate that Nintendo could release the Wii a month or two ahead of the PlayStation 3. No matter when Sony and Nintendo get their next generation consoles to market, this holiday season will mark the official beginning of the next generation console wars.
Over the course of the last two console generations, Sony has made it clear that they own the gaming industry. The company came out of the gate with the original PlayStation and dominated Nintendo and Sega, then it overwhelmed Microsoft and Nintendo with the PlayStation 2. But several important facts have been revealed about the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii that could make the battle much closer this time around. In addition, Microsoft will have a one year head start with a strong market hold in the US and Europe. The next two or three years should be very interesting, but for now let's look at how the battle this holiday season is shaping up.
---------------------------------
Conclusion...
As always, we can't determine who will come out on top for some time to come. However, based on what we currently know of all three consoles, Sony is in the worst position, taking the biggest gambles. If Sony's gambles pay off, the company could dominate the gaming industry for the third straight console cycle. Sony is taking some big risks, but is seems as though the outcome will keep all three consoles neck and neck for some time. If Nintendo is able to garner enough mainstream support from non-gamers, it could be enough to turn the tides completely and give the classic company the top spot once again. Whatever the case may be, it's an interesting time to be a gamer (or perhaps a non-gamer) as we head into what could be the greatest console war ever.

And if you do decide to reply, don't start blabbering on about how a certain console, "owns" it's competitors. Or if a specific console "sucks". So... please refrain from any childish remarks.

Even if Sony is taking a big risk, there shouldn't be much to worry about. Of course it's about being the best, but a company that dominates electronics all around, isn't going to go bankrupt or lose much of a name if it's console isn't the best.
even if there aren't many sales of its console, the production costs will be evened out I suppose. might leave gamers upset though =[

Sony doesn't dominate electronics.
They lost the Mp3 Player market to Apple; after they introduced the iPod brand. Overall, they've had a huge decline in the electronics market. They're not as strong as they used to be. Now with the Playstation 3, it seems that they're gradually loosing support in the Playstation brand too.

I'm sure they'll do fine. Lots of people look forward to the PS3.. as long as the price goes reasonable.

The price is reasonable, considering how much a Blu-ray player costs, but I don't exactly see alot of people paying over $600 for a Games Console (and that's excluding games). I think most people will wait for the console to get a price-cut.

...yeah $600 is quite alot. I guess nobody is certain about the price in the US yet.. but if it's going to be 549 in UK that says something.

i think the ps3 will lose out majorly, the hardware is doing to be the worse of the lot, really unreliable, blue ray is not needed yet..... the major pulling point of a ps2 was they had many of the games, but most games will come out on all formats in the next gen....
xbox will win because it had been out the longest and they will reduce the xboxs price by alot a christmas making parents by the 360 instead of ps3, the compaitiblily with pcs will by a big bonus
nintendo will have a small, loyal market, but unfortunatly will again be overlooked by many

Sony and Xbox have always been big competitors. I think Xbox have made a great move bringing out the Xbox 360 earlier then the PS3. Although the PS3 will have alot of buyers, I still thing Xbox will come out on top. As for Sony as a Company they are losing alot of power; They have lost the mp3 market to Apple like Tiësto sed before. But saying all this Sony have made some great moves. Like bringing out the PSP. There great. The nintendo market have always had loyal customers, but i have the feeling the PSP might have hit nintendo hard.
Those are my thoughts.
