Yes it should. Lol.
As for the Lawyer... Contact their office and find out what's happening with your case. Just be aware that everytime you call, it costs.

Like Mariah said....every time you call it costs (even if it's a complaint). BUT...you're paying good money, so the lawyer you retained owes you a service.....his\her professional service! I'm not sure what it is in Qld, but in N.S.W. it's the Law Society of N.S.W. that you would call if you have a problem with your solicitor. I'm sure there's something similar in Qld.
Q......What's the difference between a lawyer and a rat?
A.....There's some things a rat just wont do....

Contact the ACCC (Australian competition and consumer commission) and tell the lawyer you'll be doing this.
See what they have to say.

Same happened to me too. In that area too. Must be the neighbourhood.
Anyway. I suggest you take him to small claims court. If you decide to do this, you'll need proof of payment, when you hired him, up-to-date proof that he has done no work.

In the US we have a Review Board to punish lawyers when they do these type of things. Check into what your country's Law overcite organization is called and file a complaint. Good Luck.
