Default Maxifile

Lately, my computer has been running a little slower at times than normal. I started a scan with Spy Sweeper, and maxifiles came up. After the can was finished, I quarantined it, then did some more scans with Ad-Aware SE and Registry Mechanic. I don't really know what the others came up with. (I think Ad-Aware came up with the same as Sweeper.) I did some research and got a few pages that said it installs spyware called Director, and another that said it hijacks your broswer. How can I get this off my computer?

Well obviously you can just search All Files and Folders for the File Names.. open the more options on Search, and search hidden files and folders aswell..
run regedit.exe and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE .... click software, and it'll be within whatever folder name.. if It hijacked your browser, then go to internet explorer in regedit... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

I can't remember exactly what, but there's a key in there to edit if your browser is hijacked.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Browser Helper Objects

Also look for :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent Version\Run

to make sure it doesn't run on start-up.
