Because if you are searching in the names list say in the "H" section and someone signs in with a user name that begins with lets say "A" then the list jumps to that persons name and you have to began again, hope this helps you.
Hate it when it makes you spend half an hour trying to click on a certain persons name to pm someone because it jumps, i ended up calling 12 people i didn't know BooBooKittyF'uck in pm.
Back when i was a teen mod that got to me too, best thing to do is have it set to show all users, that lessens the jumping to only new signers not room changers.
