Sleeping Disorder?
Okay, before I go onto the “authorities " I just want to make sure before I make myself look like fool. So hear me out.
After track season, I've been staying up late for a bit. Maybe until 1 or 2 in the morning. Then, from there on I can't sleep. Like the following day, I'll wake up in the afternoon; do what I got to do, then go to bed again around 1 or 2 am. However, I started sleep even later. Yesterday, I slept around 4 am and when ever I try to go back to sleep I start thinking. My mind keeps thinking & thinking and I wouldn't sleep. I try forcing myself to sleep & I just get headaches. I don't feel tired & I feel wide awake. It's real difficult for me to get some rest & when I do get some rest I sleep for 12 hours or more. I would say that isn't such a good. =| What I would usually think of while I try to go put myself to sleep is something calm and something I usually think of before I go to bed. Unfortunately, it isn't working. I start counting backwards & it's really weird how I can count backwards without even trying.
I know I have no ability to do that because I can't even do basic mental math. & when I don't count, I think of probabilities & problems & how to find solutions to it. I start thinking of robots & how to create them. I then start thinking of how to create things to win a science project. I once thought about atomic bombs and how it works. I'd think & create a strategy in my mind on how to explain this to people & start analyzing. =X Then sometimes, I would forget things.
I hope this isn't something major situation & it's nothing serious. Well, if you have anything that may help me go back to bed during regular hours please help me. Please post any comments. & please don't judge or criticism me. ._.'

perfectly normal.. you're probably just in abit of a spell right now is all... well i wouldnt listen to me if i were you... i say its perfectly normal because I get the sleeping crap too... i have anemia though
the random thoughts of things that would normally be incomprehensive to you is also something i do... well sorta, i uhh.. yeah im not getting into that one..... Anyway!! just hit your head against the wall repeatedly untill you fall asleep... you wake up with a wicked ****ing headache and your body feels rather awkward but your mind has a nice rest...

Ahh, you're a teenager, all teenagers go through this stage at some point - even I did.. Your hormones are out of balance, you're growing up, you have alot going through your mind -- its perfectly natural.. And with summer here and the temperature, it certainly isn't helping the matter.
You need to get back into a regular sleeping pattern again, keep a regular schedule; try going to bed at about 10/11pm and waking up around the same time every day, so that your body will expect the same each day. Keep it dark - as we associate the light with daytime and being active, make sure you have fresh air as well.
I know it'll probally be hard getting back into your usual sleeping pattern, but it won't all happen in a day, you've gotta work at it.
When you go to bed, block everything out of your mind, and I know that'll be hard, but force yourself to do it. It's only when the mind is physically active, it'll keep you up all night.
If you can't sleep, just lay there; resist the temptation of getting back up and going on the computer, you'll eventually find yourself getting tired again.
Don't take regular naps in the day time, don't drink caffeine before you go to bed, don't do anything too active, just be easy on yourself and relax..

lol lara what u been doing to stay up that late? -gave u sleeping pills- dont take too many! Well this is how i get to bed. I go running on most days in the morning to use up energy levels so i know i'll be tired at night. when i go to bed i get myself in a comfortable position and BANG! im asleep lol. But i dont think ur sleep patterns have anything to do with thinking. its just frankee's snoring lol

If your body is used to excerise/track practice, you can't just remove that expenditure of energy and expect your body to behave the same way.

Your mind wants you to engage in some kind of activity.

Normal for teens. Your body's going through some changes, and it will take advantage of the rest that it gets.

I suggest replacing the lost activity (track) with something else. Mental creativity can be just as exhausting--maybe even more so--as physical activity. Apply your creative side during the day. Do some research on the topics you mentioned and try to build something ... a mental "hobby" to occupy your mind while you're awake so that you're not so consumed by it at night.
And if you become so enamored with this hobby that you stay up late working on it, you still should have no trouble falling asleep when you do go to bed ... plus you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you learned and accomplished something. Who knows? It might even help you later in life.
