Thumbs up Cuba

for you gringos its pronounced " COOOBA" not "Q-BAA" and havana is pronounced "HABANA" not "HAVE ANNA"

it is my homeland my native country my culture mi tierra

i was born there... my dad is cuban and a lawyer here in miami fla my mother is an american "hippie" woman who was working for the american intrests section in havana where she met my dad we moved to miami with visas my mom obtained for us because she being an american makes us all american citizens by marriage

i have been in miami fla usa for 15 of my twenty years

my brother carlos joined the marines three years ago he served in iraq and was wounded my dad was so very proud of him my mom was scared out of her mind for carlos couldnt sleep and would cry whenever i mentioned carlos name now he is home and is going to be getting out of the marines soon he wants to be a police officer here in miami he is a typical macho cuban boy i wanted to kick his ass when he joined the marines because of what it did to my mom

my dad and my brother are both republicans

my mom and i are both democrats

we argue about bush and the war as a family but now that CASTRO is turning his power of rule in CUBA over to his brother and other subordinates in the cuban government we all now agree that it is just a matter of time and a short time at that before another revolution starts in cuba we believe that the cubans in cuba not the exiles in miami will provoke a revolution and FINALLY a FREE CUBA will become a reality

what do you think ?

A free Cuba is very unlikely within our lifetimes because the Castro family still has an extremely strong hold over the people of the island an will continue to have. Just because the Castro isn't Fidel does not mean he will give more concessions, in fact at the moment Fidel is set to regain power when he recovers from surgery so his brother will be desperate for him not to have any fault to find with his leadership so will be as strict if not stricter than Fidel himself.

It is not just the Castro's who run this regime they have a lot of powerful allies who will overrun any uprising, and don't expect any American assistance in an uprising this time, they have been stung in Cuba before and have their hands full elsewhere.

have you ever even been to cuba ?

ur just quoting some info you obtained in news reports

first of all there is a growing and significant " DISSIDENT" movement in cuba now and there always has been its just that its been underground and most of the political dissidents were put into prison in the early sixties

but now it is becoming more visual and outspoken and the fact that the standard of living is very desperate and disenfranchised by the government yes there is free education and free medical care but the people are languishing in a hopeless totalitarian society without personal freedoms that you take for granted they have neighborhood "snitches" on every block reporting everyone and everything to the state security force and because of this "environment" the people have a strong motivation to force change from "within" a revolution will happen whithin the communist party and government

case in point ___ THE SOVIET UNION COLLAPSED FROM WITHIN and it is now a basically free country called russia

the situation in cuba has been desperate ever since the downfall of the soviet union when cuba was left on its own without that support and economic trade also the US embargo that the miami cuban exile community supports and subverts at the same time by voting for it then violating it by taking money to their relatives in cuba has been another reason for change in cuba

when a new revolution takes form in cuba and it will be soon ... there will be assitance from the powerfull cuban american exile lobby in wash dc and because of that there will be US involvement

so i would conclude that ur view is influnced by misleading news reports of cuba

Probably shouldn't have but that made me laugh. :/

And in English it is pronounced Q-BAH. You don't see me running around telling people how to say France in French and telling them they're wrong.

But I think this is another pointless thread made by the biggest bigot on these forums. And hypocrite.

You know I must agree with Cindy this time. Though it will not be easy I believe that if the people of Cuba want it bad enough they can win their freedom. Remember that an up start little country called the United States of America once rebelled against its government and so won its freedom from the most powerful nation and army at the time. I also think that the USA would like to help Cuba gain its freedom and start their own democratic government if the people ask for our help. And if that be the case I am all for it.
Now I am tired got to sleep. Oh and Cindy say thank you to your brother for me, from one marine to another. And I am currently serving in Iraq.
