What is an "Unlocked" Cell Phone ?

Theres this phone on Ebay that i want to buy but it says that it is "Unlocked". What does that mean ? Does it mean that if I put in my sim card from my previous phone in this one will the phone work without a problem ? Or does it still mean that I have to go to a t-mobile store to activate it or something ?

Unlocked means that it will work with any sim card/network. Most new phones are locked to a particular network, unlocking a phone means, well you can probably work that out.

It is possible that if your current sim card networks and new unlocked phone networks are different you may not be able to use all the WAP/Internet connecion type phone settings.

It means you can use any network like vodaphone t mobile thats what it means i think.

it means u can put any sim from any network in it and it will work
