BARCLAYS PREMIERSHIP PREDICTIONS THREAD
2006/7 SEASON
Including Fantasy Premier League
___________________________________________
Welcome to the
Barclays Premiership Predictions Thread • 2006/7 Season.

I've written a guide to give you an idea of how the game works, as well as another competition I have running. In this post you will find the following content:
A. PREDICTIONS GAME: GUIDELINES -What the game is all about
B. FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE - Details of how to enter
C. FIXTURES - Dated 19/23 Aug '06
A. PREDICTIONS GAME: GUIDELINES
Here's how the game works: I post the matches to be played, and you predict them. The points are allocated as follows:
- 1 point is given for predicting the correct team to win for each match.
- 3 points are given for every scoreline you get exactly right.
Your points will be collated together each week and will be added togehter to create a running total. From this we can create a league and compete!
One thing I must ask though is that you get your predictions in on time should you wish to enter them. I would like them in BEFORE kick off times. You can post the odd fixture should you miss some of the earlier ones though.
Should you wish to edit your predictions, please delete your old post and start a new one.
If you are someone who has just come in this thread to flame, troll, post pointless rubbish or whatever: I will not tolerate this and delete your posts. General discussion and banter is always welcome. Afterall, this competition is meant to be a bit of fun!
***SHOULD I NOT BE AROUND TO POST THE FIXTURES, THEY CAN BE PULLED FROM

B. FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE
As well as running the
Barclays Premiership Predictions Thread • 2006/7 Season, I am also creating a private league on the FA Premier League website's version of the Fantasy Premier League. The name of our private league will be #1 Chat Avenue. It is
FREE to enter.
Here is a guide on how to enter the Fantasy Premier League competition:
1. Click the following link to access the Fantasy Premier League page of the FA Premier League website:
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
2. Firstly, if you entered the competition last year, and can remember your name and password, then great! Just log in! If you cannot remember your name and password, then click
here. It will ask you to type on the email address you used when you entered last time around. If you can't even remember the email address you used, create a new Fantasy Premier League account! If you are new to this and have never had an account before, then click on the
REGISTER hyperlink.
2. You should now be on a page which asks you to fill in personal details. It will ask you to fill in the following fields:
- Username - You will need this for any time you want to log into the competition.
- Password
- Confirm Password
- Forename and Surname - If you don't want to reveal your real name to other Chat Avenue members, I suggest you fill your username in one of the fields, then a full stop in the other.
- Postcode or Zip - Nobody else will be able to see this, but it's entirely up to you whether you type in your real postcode/zip, or type in a false one. I think they ask for this in event of you doing well and winning one of the prizes they have on offer.
- Email address - You will need to provide a valid email address for this.
- Country of residence
- Gender - Choose from male or female. Sorry to disappoint you but there's no cross dressing/transexual/transvestite option available!
- Favourite club - Pick from any of the 20 clubs plying their trade in the FA Premier League.
- There are two statements at the bottom. It's best if you tick neither if you don't want the inbox your email address filling up with junk.
3. There is a list, which is numbered up from 1 to 14, of terms & conditions. Entirely up to you if you read them, but there's nothing really of interest I can assure you of that. Click AGREE at the bottom of the page to continue on to the next page.
4. Firstly, choose a name for your team. You will then need to choose the colours of the strip you want your team to have. It's pretty simple really, just click on any of the 10 colours available on each of the 5 parts of the strip. You will then be asked about newsletters, basically informing of you of any injuries to your players and the team chosen for a certain gameweek. You can choose to have your emails sent in HTML format, plain text or no email at all.
5. Right, here's the fun part! You can choose two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three strikers to the value of 100.0. Click on the tab at the side of the green pitch to move between different Premier League clubs' squads. When you've found a player you want, click on his name to add him to your squad. When you're happy with your squad, click Enter team. You are now registered with the Fantasy Premier League!
6. To join the Chat Avenue private league I've created, click on Leagues on the right of the page. You will see an option to join a private league. In this section you will see a box. To enter the Chat Avenue private league you will need to enter the following code:
171555-81631
7. OTHER TIPS:
My team - Decide which players will start and which will be on the bench, only players that start will obtain points from the real life matches played. The points are given to players based on the Opta Stats system, which I'm sure you'll of heard of/come across before. You also choose which player will be your captain. Be wise with this as your captain gets his points doubled! Also choose the order of your substitutes in case of last minute injury to other players, the injured player will be automatically replaced by your first choice substitute.
Latest Points - See how well your players scored from the previous gameweek(s).
Transfers - You can chop and change as much as you like before the season starts but from then on it is best to make only one change per gameweek. For every extra change you make during a gameweek you will incur a penalty of four points.
Leagues - Manage which leagues you would like your team to compete in. There is a choice of public leagues and private leagues or you can create a new one yourself (which you get to administrate).
Notes - Just a blank box of where you can write thoughts on what changes you may want to make to your team.
Watchlist - Keep track of players you may want to add to your team in the future.
Fantasy Stats - Explains itself really. Nice array of Opta Stats, useful for if you're looking for a certain kind of player.
Fixtures - Lists of matches to be played each gameweek. Can have a bearing on your team selection.
The Pundit - This person gives youthe lowdown on who scored highest last season and who might be worth adding to your squad. Useful for novices and those who have played the game before.
Prizes - There are two types of prizes: a monthly prize, and an overall prize. Details are as follows:
1st Prize
The overall winner of Fantasy Premier League 2006/07 will win a VIP trip for two to a Barclays Premiership match featuring a team of their choice! The prize includes two night's accommodation (including breakfast) at a top hotel, all transfers, pre-match hospitality and £250 spending money.
Monthly Prize
This season the person who finishes top of the monthly leaderboard will be declared Manager of the Month and will win a home replica shirt of a current Premier League club of their choice plus two VIP tickets to a pre-selected Barclays Premiership match including matchday hospitality. The selected match for the monthly winner in August 2006 will be confirmed in due course. Please note no alternative match will be offered.
