Help! Gay mom with Teenage Son

Hi Everyone...

I'm a 34 year old women who is mom to the greatest 15 year old in the world. I came out of the closet about 1 year ago and my mom was devasted. To this day he still has not accepted me or my girlfriend of 2 years. She cannot be in the house when he is there, etc... Any advice/support group suggestions etc?

s hit lol thats a tough one good lucks the best thing i can say no matter what happens ya still his ma but yano that must be a pretty big shock its new and alien to him might take a long long time he may never accept but he may adapt to it and make things more comftable for ya

um hun well im sorry i dont really have an idea or a sort of solution to this. the only thing i can tell you is that he will learn to accept you in his own time hunny. just give your son time to accept who you are and what your lifestyle is. he is still young and its hard for him to adapt to such a huge change in his life, especially finding out that his mother is gay. so just wait until he gest older. there is really nothing you can do. its up to him when he will learn to accept that is who you are. like i said before give him time. that is all he needs.

Your mother will eventually get over it.

My mum told me I was an idiot.

And didn't speak to me AT ALL for a week.

And I was 15.

I'm seventeen now.

And she's okay with it.

She let's me go to my girlfriends place, and she let's her come to my place.

Your mum just needs to get used to the idea that you aren't comformed by her ways and beliefs.

Once she realises that you're old enough to make your own choices, and that this one wasn't exactly your choice, then she will apreciate you, and your girlfriend.

Can't really force someone to accpet your sexuality, not that I think you are, just mentionable. Just give the people in your life time to think about it, get over the 'shock' and so on. Eventually some will accept you and go on as if it's nothing. The important thing is that you accept yourself and your sexuality first, the rest will work itself out.

Maybe this should have been sent as a duplicate to advice!

It would have been a great thread In GF, and some great advice and personal experience may have been given to help this mum.

Mum I applaud you for takeing the time to post as such, to try to learn! how to deal with family!
