Do football players get paid too much?
Simple question do football(soccer) players get payed to much?
football players get payed up to 100,000 pounds a week depending on how good they are so do you think that its pathetic that a football player can get payed so much JUST for kicking a ball for 90 minutes? PLUS get bonuses depending on how many goals they scores etc etc
answer the poll and give your reasons

I think there is too much money in the game..
But it's not JUST for playing 90 minutes of football. An athlete (footballers ARE athletes) have to train continuously. They also have to live suitable lifestyles (that means not pigging out, going out getting dronk - well, at least not before a game, footballers do get to go out and get drunk which usually ends up in some sunday tabloid).
Still, I think at the top end, the money is plain ridiculous.
Even lower down in the Championship (heh, feels good to say "lower down in the Championship =^.^="), Eiric Bakke is on £23k a week plus £4k for each game he plays. He's on all that money, but Leeds can't afford the extra 4 grand to actually PLAY him in a game, so he gets 23 grand for doing sod all except keeping in shape. He's still contracted, nobody else wants him, so Leeds are stuck with him
I'd feel sorry for them if it wasn't Leeds
One Peter Ridsdale, there's only one Peter Ridsdale!!! =^.^=

Of course they do, no arguments there, no matter how much they have to change their lifestyle.

It's a simple case of supply and demand. As long as people are willing to shell out big bucks for their teams and respective memorabilia, the salaries will continue to escalate.
The scariest example is baseball in the states. They make hundreds of millions of dollars, yet many of them are fat and hardly "train" at all. The sport is constantly riddled with strikes and scandals, yet the public is still willing to pay more for tickets and jerseys year after year. If the fans stopped buying these things, then the salaries would stop rising.
I fear that in the near future, only the rich will be able to afford to see the major sports.
