Whippings
I can't say that I believe in physial punishment because I reacted negatively towards it due to the fact that I felt it was unnecessary, but I can't say that time out really works for all kids seeing that they now calculate the time it takes to pay for their actions and before let off have already thought of new ways to get into mischief. So what then is the answer to effective punishment? Shouldn't our parents try to at least have a discussion about what we did that they felt was unacceptable before resulting to whippings?

nor do i believe in physical punishment. the state frowns upon it. i think a more effective means of punishment for a naughty child would be toremove all "treats" from the child

Im glad my dad beat me when i did something wrong, cos it toughened me up, and made me more independant. And if i ever have kids i'll kick their asses too if they misbehave.

I third that - made even more so by Gianna posting in it.
Well I suppose I best answer on topic now I'm here well I feel that physical punishment for a child is acceptable to a point, just telling children not to do something doesn't always work, but it should be a last resort and there shouldn't be a weapon used nor should it be hard enough to leave a lasting mark.

Yes, they should. Or at least I think they should.
Why should they be allowed to inflict physical pain...
They wouldn't like it if you resorted to it.
I believe in a "Hands Off Policy."
Everyone keeps their hands to theirselves.
If you ask Me...
I think Parents hit out of their own frustrations.
Maybe they should remember what it was like growing up.
Then they wouldn't be so uptight with their children.
