Young Man, Older Woman
What are your thoughts of dating a man or woman 8+ years older than you? Is there a double standard when it comes to the older ***?

Well to be honest it depends. I think a guy should be older than a girl since guys mature much slower mentaly. For me the top age difference in my guy being older would be 6 yrs. With women being older its more difficult as they may not be submissive because their partner is younger. My friend had this problem, she was 16 and he was 13 turning 14. She felt more like his mum and they split up coz he was immature. So it honestly depends on the persons behaviour.

I say it's whatever really. I mean I think this kinda thing relates to the interracial dating thing because you're going to have people snickering...pointing..laughing etc. The whole thing about women maturing faster than guys..yes...but I think the key is that most women mature period..a lot of men don't. I have seen/talked to men much older than me...chatrooms are a good example of this btw...who act like they're 10 and it disgusts me.But then again..you get some guys younger than you who act more mature than the ones older than you. I say if you're happy with that person then go for it. I usually prefer to be with men older than me..or around my age...a year or so younger isn't bad. I just say do what you wanna do..society is harsh when it comes to dating period..and it's not gunna get any better..you just have to accept the fact that not everyone will accept your decisions..but that's where you have to have the screw it attitude because the way I see it..you're not trying to please other people..and it's really none of their damn business who you date.

That is absolute bull****. You're just not meeting th right guys. I know plenty of girls who are older than me and they act like 12 year olds. There is no scientific data to suggest that women mature faster than man mentally.
ANYWHO!! I wouldn't mind an older girl. I actually sort of look for them more than younger ones. But I'm still a young guy. By the time I hit 30, I might not be as interested in them. I'm just not that attracted to most women my age. They play too many games. But- you have to watch out if you get an older woman, because she might only be with you to try to relive her glory days or something. But then again, I'm not looking for some 45 year old or anything. In the long run though, older woman/younger man relationships rarely seem to work out that well. But still, if some people want to do that, I have no problem with it. It's none of my business.

Supposedly, girls are more mentally "mature" than boys by about 2 years (though I have no idea how maturity can be measured), but males "catch up" in their late-teens/early 20's.
Keeping on topic ... I don't think age matters. There are fun-loving older people, and wise young people. Love doesn't care.

Maria, you can't compare Sponge's maturity to a fact. Because, this is the net.
You've not met him in real life, so you can't say that, or make assumptions.
