Are homosexual urges equal in men and women?
I have been wondering about this for a while now. As far as practicing homosexuality many many more women are engaging in homosexual conduct than men are. It is everywhere these days.
Madonna kissing Brittany Spears had brought this into mainstream media. There are way more movies that have women kissing each other than men kissing men.
A survey found that many women would do it for free. They posed a theory that 60-80% of women are homosexual and would practice... under the right circumstance of course.
In my own experience at bars and at parties it is very common for me to see women fondling and kissing each other. So what conclusion do I have. Women are more homosexual than men. Or are they? What if the urges are equal between the two, yet since female homosexuality is more socially accepted men are not comfortable in practising?
As it stands, officially men love watching two women "get it on"....I cannot think of any women who like two watch two men do such activities. Why is that???
Although toloerance has increased many men are still homophobic. They may get turned on if they see two women kissing in a bar, but will sure as hell beat the crap out of any guys they see do that.
I have female friends who can go with men for a while and then women and switch back and forth freely without anyone saying two ****s. They do not have to come out of the closet, they do not have to take on the label of "bisexual." I know one guy who also swiches back and forth. His friends say he is confused and he must pick one side or the other. There is a huge double standard here.
Society sees two women together as hot and two men together as gross. Two women together is fashionable and it used to sell products. Two men together draws alot of negativity.
What do you all think ??

I think the reason that females is seen as "more acceptable" than males in society maybe in the act itself.
Barring use of the obvious help, it is impossible for females to penetrate each other etc. So in a very general sense they are not in fact having intercourse wih each other, simply helping each other to masturbate.
But with the males penetration is an occurance and so the act is nothing more than intercourse but while sex is for pleasure it also serves the natural process of reproduction so the act of intercourse for a reason other than reproduction repels some people because it's against the "natural order".
Heh I probably make no sense but there you go.

because men are seen as s ex mad.. and are the still the dominating of all, most adverts are aimed at men, normally through raunchy innendo's wheras, for women it's different.. its all about making themselves sexy for men.. straight men, they obviously dont see it as a homosexual act but thinking '2 for the price of one' he'll then bash them over the head and drag them in his cave.. even if they are fingering eachother or not.. he'll still think its hot.. my friends have gotten off with each other.. girls. but they arent gay.. though i dont think they would mind lol.. but they prefer men to women.. it doesnt mean they cant fool about.. times have changed anyway..
and thats my intepretation which falls along the lines of what you were saying.. i think exactly the same and agree.. its goin back to the stoneage.. and the natural instinct to make babies.. and fight the other men for the best meat etc.. lol
My whole family is homophobic but Shh men or women

I am very skeptical about who was actually involved in this study, if 60-80% of women would be homosexual? That sounds quite a bit high, I'm just wondering what research survey and pool of people that is based on.

I'll get to this later.

I'm certain that was done for "shock value."

Probably because there's a demand for it by "straight" men. There's little demand for men kissing other men. Many theatres in the States wouldn't even show Brokeback Mountain.

Tying into the first part of your post, I think this is the more likely explanation. Lots of people applaud same-s3x relationships between females, yet react violently towards men with other men.
Even on this site, the people who are the most appalled by homosexuality often bring up stereotypes that apply exclusively to gay men, and say nothing about lesbians.

Maybe they just see it as more of a good thing--if one woman looks good, two look even better?

Again, true.
Honestly, woman encounter much less resistance to switching gender roles in general. Compare the clothes they wear today with what women wore just 50 years ago. Most women today are essentially wearing "men's" clothes.
There's also a huge difference in expectations. It's fine for a girl to want to grow up to be either an engineer or a homemaker. Could you imagine a boy saying that?
Given the inclination that men have to engage in a variety of sexual experiences in general, I would say that more men have homosexual urges/tendencies than women do. But society isn't as accepting (yet) so women have the freedom to express themselves more openly.
