Why transgender?
Why are transgender people generally grouped with gay/lesbian/bisexual people? Why gay/lesbian/bi refers to a person's sexuality/attractions, transgender refers to how a person acts or dresses. They seem completely different to me.
Plus, from what I've read, the majority of transgender people are straight anyway.
The only similarity seems to be that both groups are 'outcasts' of society and relate non-traditionally with regards to people's s/ex. But those are incredibly broad similarities.

Good point.
I've never really given it much thought but it's true. I guess it's sociaty's way of not being able to understand new consepts that are becoming more and more common. "They dress like the other sex..they must want to be that sex..their sexuality must have shifted too"
Also, aswell as being more common, it's hidden by many but still rare at the same time. So a Transgender forum for example would be empty due to the mask that's on about it.
It's something that's even more frowned upon then homosexuality, homosexuality only just starting to be accepted, I think it's going to be a while until this is accpeted properly.

There is a difference between transgender and transvestisism. I think you are confusing the two. Transvestism refers to the act of dressing in the opposite sexes' clothes, and it is there you will find a lot of heterosexual people (Ed Wood, for a famous example).
Transgender means that someone relates more to the opposite ***, and there are a whole lot of other connotations along with it.
Hope that helps.

So why not compare them?

Seriously, what a pathetic comment to make...
How can what you wear, define your sexuality? ...
Statistics show, that a large percentage of cross dressers are hetrosexual males...

Could not agree more, thank god CM refused Dragonsfires request to add them to the GLB tag for this site.
They do not want to be part of the movement for equal rights.
They have their own issues, and do not want to be a part of the coalition, praise de lordie lord for that!
Trannys in the uk have secured astonishing rights.
They have the gender recognition secretariate, that will allow them to re write their birth certs.
On a sour note, alas even the best UK doctors cannot find a way to remove the adams apple! or the hair growth on the hands, and the hands like shovels that most have.. So sad! Really!
On a personal note!
If ever I needed a quick hand job! I would look for a friendly builder person! at least you would know what to expect!

A hermaphrodite is a person who has both male and female genitalia.
