Default World Aids Day Dec 1st

Once again, we are coming upto World Aids Dayand, before posting this, I decided to get some info on new infections and those who are living with the virus.

Estiamtes from UNAID/WHO Aids say tht there are 37.2m Adults and 2.3m Children worldwide, living with this terrible illness2

It also goes on to say tht figures as of Nov 2006 show 4.3m NEW cases and tht there have been 2.9m deaths.

There is also aroung 530,000 children 14 or under diagnosed.

These increases need to be stopped, and the safer s, ex message taken on board, as most of those 14's & under, will not live to see thier 30's despite medications getting better.

Remember, in the case of H I V, prevention is far better than treatment, I would say cure, but there IS no cure yet, for ur own sake, if not others, use a condom please.

Unhappy

Sad and staggering numbers.

I think too many people in Western Countries have grown lazy in terms of using protection (despite the fact that there is no cure) because of the medicines that are available--AIDS is not necessarily a death sentence anymore.

Bizarre practices in Africa, and lack of proper education in Asia have also caused the numbers to skyrocket.

People definitely need to educate themselves about this disease and take every precaution.

**On a side note, I think this thread should've been posted in Health Forums. Posting it in the GLB Forums only reinforces the idea that AIDS is a "gay" disease. AIDS is not a gay problem; it's everyone's problem.

Just my opinion.

I had thought of posting it in health forums, but there are a lot of str8 ppl who use this forum also, who may not think of going to health, and I don't for one minute wish ppl to think its just a *gay* illness, although there were no actual figures as to who is now becoming infected, the largest proportion being in developing nations at 95% of the total, there has been strong evidence in the past, tht a lot of heterosexual ppl are now becoming infected, and, indeed out number those who identify as being gay. Education is the key to prevent further new cases, and, given tht more than half a million children of 14 and under are becoming infected, the sooner the better.

I think it's the old saying, "it'll never happen to me", but the truth is, if ur sexually active, without precautions, u are at risk, regardless of age, s,ex or sexuallity or ethnicity.

I do not care about AIDS days..

...Or animal days.....

AIDS is not a GAY isssue never was!

Lets get real and have a destitute child day!

Stand back, stand up and ask what are you doing to support a desolate child In your local community.

Let me say this. " get your own house in order, afor you get others into order"
Support our babes....first AND FORMOST!

MAKE TODAY, A CHILD SUPPORT DAY!
