holiday memories
Post one your favorite memories of the holidays... any holiday at all A moment that stands out in your memory as special and has become an Indelible image of that holiday..
One of my favorites is was when i was a small boy. my parents were struggling finacially and squabbling often.. and it looked as if my brothers and sister were in for a rather bleak X-mas ..when we woke to our surprise the living room was crammed with present.. it wasnt the facts there were alot of presents ..it was the fact that it restored that sense of wonder to the day,,and the belief in x-mas magic..we then spent hours outside with my dad playing football and trying out all of our new gizmos..which was kinda odd because my father was always to busy to have anything to do with us for the rest of the year..that made it even more memorable.. Moms called us into the house to a full holiday spread.. i was expecting to have a chicken or holiday pizza after dinner we all huddled together on the couch watching x-mas crap on tv till we fell asleep..It was the last time i felt such a strong sense of family unity.. it will always stand out as a special day
so now that i have spilled my guts ... lets hear from you ..post those memories ..

My favorite holiday memory was a little like the one that was first posted. While growing up my family was rather poor as well. I remember my mom telling us there would be no Christmas due to lack of funds. We all cried because that's how we found out there was no santa clause. Well I remember my mom taking her last 1.00 and buying an instant lottery ticket (which seemed very stupid at the time), I was the oldest child and was the only one of us in the car, I remember mom scratching off that lottery ticket and winning 2000.00! She sat in the car and cried for awhile knowing we would finally get to have Christmas.... She asked me not to tell the others so I kept it to myself and when my sisters got up Christmas morning and saw all the presents they cried and said see mommy we told you there was a santa.
That Christmas will forever be locked into my memory....sometimes you have to take a chance and you never know what to expect out of some of the worse situations! Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all make a wonderful warm memory this year......

one of my favourite memories is when i was about 6 and my dad had to work over christmas. my mom and i opened all our presents on christmas morning and had a wonderful day. i don't know how they managed, but i always had toys under the tree. as any kid, there was one popular doll i really really wanted, a "sleepy suzie". well, it wasn't under there on christmas morning. my mom explained that santa ran out of the dolls because there were so many good children that year. i was heartbroken.
then, at around 11 pm on christmas night, my dad came home and woke me up. he handed me suzie and said it had fallen out of santa sleigh.
years later, my mom told me that after working an 18 hour shift, my dad drove 150 miles to to get me the doll. he was an amazing father...and i miss him.

My favorite christmas would have been when my son was just about three years ago. None of us were able to open our Christmas gifts.. he was tearing around the room "helping" everyone, ( he even helped my with my birthday gifts that day too ) And the look on his face no matter what it was was priceless, he jumped up and down with excitement and then would quickly run to the next person to do the same all over agian.

The one i remember most.. One year we had a family christmas at my grandparents place, they didnt have huge amounts of money, and gifts were small, but it wasnt the gifts.. It was all the family sitting around under their big oak tree and laughing and having fun, thats one christmas i have never forgotten..
