Default Essay Topic?

I'm writing a paper focusing around the novel, Jane Eyre.
Over the topic of women in society.
Should I go with Idea A or Idea B:
Idea A: A lil broad, room for plenty of thought.
- background info on the women in Jane Eyre
- historical info of women in different societies
- what's going on in the news
- and the increasing change, etc.
Idea B: More detailed, more direct.
- spiritual
- social
- economic
- and political changes
[quick overview for each
& maybe somethin' current to relate]
I'm leaning more towards Idea B.

I kind of feel like you need a more focused direction for your essay....like a purpose or a thesis....an argument rather than several aspects of something....

ie. how are you going to tie spiritual, social, economic and politics together...under what conditions?

I've never read the book before....but you have to find someway of connecting all those aspects....

so for example....discuss the spiritual, social, economical and political components of the novel as it relates to such and such a situation or person....bring them together somehow

Well we had to choose a novel to focus on. I chose Jane Eyre to focus on Jane's role in society and what that is.. especially based on her gender, how the role of women in society changes or relates to today and throughout history. I would most likely describe how the spiritual, social, economical, and political parts of life, for women in society, are changed or altered or are in some ways, different. Then I would add in from other sources, books newspapers, while getting quotes from written works like Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and perhaps others including critics.

Thaanks. And yeah, I do want it in depth.. I guess not like writing-a-novel in depth but enough for an senior paper or the like.
