HELP PLEASE!!!! Interspecific Competition

I have this problem where I have a small bladder and so I went to use the bathroom at a time when the lab instructor was explaining an important part of the assignment.

Anyways this is due tomorrow and I'm not sure I'm going to get much feedback, but if anyone is a Biology major then I would greatly appreciate the help....here goes:

3. Willie diligently keeps tabs on the population sizes of 2 competing leeches in the school fish pond, a popular spot with Martin's science club. Flor a long time, Slimy leech numbers have been around 100 nd yucky leaches have been near 700.

a. Calculate the population size each species could attain if its competitor were absent? (alpha = both species)?

my question: How in the world do you calculate each one independent of the other....

I've been using the zero-growth equations for graphing the situations, but I have no idea how to go about answering this question

b. After the school picnic, Willie was devastated to find his beloved Yucky leech numbers had dropped to an all-time low of 273. Should he be worried that they are "on their way out"? EXPLAIN

I don't think that's possible, but I will talk to my doctor ....what are those squeezing exercises women do for better ***? kegel exercises? maybe that would work lol

ANYWAYS i went to see the TA and I got back and thought I understood it but still dont...maybe I need a tutor...calculus was never this hard which is kinda gay

Yes...I could have done that BUT...I was falling asleep during the "lab" (quotes because it feels more like a lecture ) and so I took my time
