Being gay: To be or not to be open In a Forum..
I'm just curious because in C/A, Gays are being strongly hit, in this part of the world "gayness" is something that is not openly Welcome, by some.... i understand in most forums, this is not the case.
In other forums, being gay is quite acceptable...
(Not stateing that ALL members of c/a are the same, just the minority)
We have this battle with friends and family members and in the workplace, there is so much to be done( Why should we Face this in an Open forum ).One just doesn't flaunt one's homosexuality. somehow the fear of rejection always looms and openness could spell serious consequences. that is why most gays are not out in the open and "gayness" is a fodder for gossips. and closet queens are not to be outdone. they don't admit (hehehe, silly! that's why they're closeted) being gay. they just deny it to death and just let people speculate.
It's really frustrating. why is one's sexuality so very important? why is one's sexual orientation something to be for approval by society? gays and lesbians cry out for equality, fairness, justice and more but i believe the world is still against their causes. there may be hope but for now, the over-all image of gays is that of an entertainer, nothing more and nothing less.
You may or may not agree with me. So i wanna hear from you. how do you feel coming out in the open, on a forum..?
Does being open on a forum , before you open to your Family help...?
Does the negativity, and response on a open forum by Other members stop you being Open to your Family(Being concerned that family would react the same)..?

A lot of people on this site do though.
And I think that homophobes find that offensive.
Not like they don't flaunt theirs when they call out homosexuals.
I find it interesting that, after it being said that homosexuals should keep to their own forum, the homophobes are coming into it.
ps- I'm still straight.

Well most of the people that do bash are either idiots or are just trash. I love who I am and I have enough people in these forums and where I live that love and accept who I am regardless.

None of the people in my workplace know of my sexuality, but that is my decision. There are some who flaunt their sexuality around, but that only makes it more dangerous on their part. Closet gays are just afriad of what might be said about them and how their family and friends will react. Usually once they have come out, they find that they have gained so much support and even more love then before.

One's sexuality is important because it is not only what they like and what they most prefer. It is who they are as a person. It is like a big stepping stone in one's life in a straight path. Society is what makes or breaks a person. It is always nice that society accepts who you are because you know that you have friends and the support of both your peers and your neighbors. We are not here to amuse people Robbie. Or atleast I am not. Where I live, I am taken seriously and I do not expect nothing more nothing less. If you see me walking down the street, you would never know my sexuality, but people have an idea. I am a person just like them and if they choose not to accept me, then they can move on because I do not want to hear it.

I sort of agree with 50% pecent of your post, but the other half, I have a different opinion. I do not necessarily disagree. Hun, I feel the same as I felt when I came out to my family. Coming out in a forum does not chaneg my life at all. I will always talk to my family first before I talk to people online about my business. Let me ask you soemthing, why would a forum on the internet affect my decision in telling my family? It is online. I base my realy life with real decisions, not with attitudes that I get from a website.
Good thread Robbie.
EDIT: Let us stop the mean comments or I will keep deleting posts and noone is to quote said people making mean comments or your posts will aswell be deleted.

Ruth Yes, allot of Us, and I include MYSELF, flaunt it on a forum..
Sometimes in (IRL), we fight a battle face on, then one comes to a forum, and take a step away from the real world, and then face this Battle..
There are alot of young teens that find it hard to be open in Real time, and turn to a Forum, and then see Hatred on a bloody forum were gays are meant to be part of..
The get scared to deal with the real issue, and that is their chance to open up , and feel the right to be honest about themselves..., seeing what is posted in these forums , scares alot of them to be honest to their real life people, The one the really love the ones that Mattter...
I am 30 , and still find it hard , that these young haters, are doing this to people that are meant to be welcome to a site that, excepts Gays...
I am posting In gay forums, and yet , once again, you get these Idiot's that follow you and still try and put more separation within these forums...

What you do is ignore them and do not respind to their idiocy. It only makes them stronger and they they know what it is that hurts you and so they keep on. Just ignore them and they will go away with their pathetic lives.

This is not an attack on if your in the closet or not...
But sometimes one does not one to come out to family, and turns to a Forum, and gets , Sh!t..
It does not help...
Michael, you always think some is out to attack , you ..
For the love of Whoever , I am on your side...
Rick..
I believe , real time is Harsh, worse than the Internet,..
\Yes Yes, you switch the Computer of and go to bed..
But reality is The younger User that are not sure about their sexuality, and wanna be free on a forum, why should they feel , that even an on line site, should be a torture, and face abuse...
Life is not mean t to be easy , and for a Internet life can never replace a real life either..
But why hate , or pick and choose..
Why not let one be ..

I'm out to my friends, although, I've actually mentioned it to my family, although, I have reached an age where they no longer ask when, or why, I've never married, as to my neighbours, it's none of thier business who I have private relationships with, my private life is just tht, PRIVATE.
As to forums, if it helps ANYONE, young or older, come to terms with thier sexuality, then long may they continue.
We will always have haters, for some, it makes them feel big and clever, for others, it stems from thier own family attidudes, but for me, the overriding thing regarding those who hate gays, of either ***, is blatant ignorance, and, maybe, a fear tht they too, could be gay.
I've said this b4, if ignorance is bliss, then haters must be in heaven.
As Philly said, good thread Robbie.

Do you think everyone except me gets unfair treatment and bullied?
If so, you're quite wrong.
