How did you tell your parents or friends you were gay and how did they react?

I told my folks, but they dont believe me, aparently i need counceling. my friends said they already knew, so that was ok!

My dad beat the shit out of me at Christmas 2002 when I told him.
My mum called me an abomination.
I told her I will bang men, accept it or fuck off. So she accepted it.
I still hate her though.

My sister was fine with it.
Friends? I only have one friend. Well had, anyway. She said she knew, but I didn't believe her because she's a slag, and knew I wouldn't bed her.

Such a perfect world, eh?

I was very young when I came out, but never brought my first B/F, home untiul i was 18..
Mum was like , Hi Bubba, dad was a bit like why are you holding hands.. is he Blind , he asked me..
I said no he is my b/f he said ... Really...
I replied yeah..
He(Dad) hugged me and said I love you.. regardless...
I am gay and still gave him two grand children..
He loves me , my mum loved me(she passed away)
My sis , an d bro-in-law is coolies, and my niece and nephew are cool
My bro is a little against, my choice.. that is his problem...
I dont like the fact he gambles , and has a drug addiction, I still support him even though he still disagree's with me lifestyle...
But we are still bro's...You can never make each member of family happy.. The Numero Uno person you should consider is yourself, love You for whom you are everything else will fall in place....

I'd like to tell people, but I'd need to have friends that I can trust first, and be honest and true to them, like every friendship should consist of.

Nah it doesn't matter. Igave them a second chance because I believe everyone does deserve one. Yeah it hurt, but I'm over it now. I don't get on with my mum really well because of it. I don't hold grudges but I don't forget what people do to me. They get one strike then they're considered dead to me.

Quite right, I was only 13. But what's done is done I guess, although that doesn't excuse it. As I said, I've been called worse by my own family for it, and that's why I don't get along with them well, except my sister. To me, she's my hero.
And I do see you as a friend, you've never hurt me in anyway.

I never had a chance to tell my parents. Dad passed when I was 13. Mom, well, she and I had our fair share of troubles after dad passed. Seems we fought about everything. I went on to high school, was kind of a rebel back then. She suspected I was gay at one point, because of some letters she found in my room from a classmate. But I denied it, as I knew it would kill her if I said yes. I graduated, moved on. She passed when I was 25. And I never did tell her. I wish I had now, 12 years later.
