{"id":415,"date":"2020-03-27T03:31:58","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T08:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chat-avenue.com\/blog\/?p=415"},"modified":"2020-06-25T00:59:58","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T05:59:58","slug":"chat-room-etiquette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chat-avenue.com\/blog\/chat-room-etiquette\/","title":{"rendered":"Chat Room Etiquette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Today we are going to talk about proper chat room etiquette. \u00a0 Many of your might be visiting our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chat-avenue.com\/\">free chat rooms<\/a>\u00a0for the very first time. \u00a0 The question you might ask yourself is: Are there any certain ways I need to behave or act in a chatroom?<\/p>\n<h2>What is proper chat room etiquette?<\/h2>\n<p>Here are some help tips we have come up with to make your experience pleasant and not pissing anybody else in the room off.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First and foremost, please follow all the chat rules applicable to the room you are using. \u00a0Not all the rules are the same and vary depending on which chat community you are a part of. \u00a0 \u00a0Review them over a few times.<\/li>\n<li>Be respectful to other chatters. \u00a0If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them istead of arguing with them. \u00a0Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others.<\/li>\n<li>When entering a new room, take a few minutes to get a feel for the climate of the room before jumping in. \u00a0If you do not like the room, simply go somewhere else.<\/li>\n<li>Use proper judgment when selecting a nickname that you will use in the chat room. \u00a0Avoid obscene or racial nicknames. \u00a0They will surely offend someone else.<\/li>\n<li>Remember that you are not anonymous. \u00a0Most chat rooms keep files of all interactions. \u00a0When you log on the chat server it has a record of what your IP is. \u00a0Remember that no chat is private. \u00a0The chat server keeps files and can identify your IP. \u00a0They can forward the files to your ISP who can pinpoint the exact address of where the PC he\/she was using is located.<\/li>\n<li>Address the person by their nickname or username when chatting. \u00a0People cannot make eye contact in these rooms so it can get confusing if you are not clear about who you are directing the message to.<\/li>\n<li>Use caps only for emphasis. Constant &#8220;shouting&#8221; can be annoying.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use your real name or reveal your address or any other personal information in a chat room. \u00a0Some people might be offended by that and be fearful that their very own personal information might be revealed to the public. \u00a0Keep that information confidential.<\/li>\n<li>Users in chat may insult or verbally abuse you. \u00a0In fact, there are many instances where a user joins chat rooms just to annoy others. \u00a0While your instinct may be to fire back, try to restrain yourself from doing so.<\/li>\n<li>Respect and welcome all newcomers to the chat. \u00a0Remember, you were once a &#8220;newbie&#8221;. \u00a0Being a &#8220;regular&#8221; isn&#8217;t easy to achieve and you will have earned it when you get there.<\/li>\n<li>Most importantly, enjoy your time in the chat rooms and never take things too seriously.
