Today, we wanted to talk a little about those cute little faces and icons that you see when chatting with other users.<\/p>\n
In the early years, before the invention of Emojis and other small gifs, an Emoticon (or Smiley) was a sequence of ordinary characters you can find on your computer keyboard. Emoticons are used in e-mail and other forms of communication using computers such as chatting. \u00a0They are used to convey an expression, feeling or mood without using common words. \u00a0Think of it as a short form of expressing oneself. \u00a0 The most popular emoticon is the smiling face (smiley):<\/p>\n

People used to use it to mean “don’t take what I just wrote too seriously”, among other things. \u00a0If you don’t see that it represents a smiling face, tip your head to the left and look at it again. The colon represents the eyes, the dash represents the nose, and the right parenthesis represents a mouth.<\/p>\n
Thousands of these emoticons are being used today.<\/p>\n

The above emojis were created by Apple. \u00a0 Although it was not the first emoji set available, it was definitely the most recognizable. \u00a0It debuted as part of Iphone’s 2.2 Operating System on November 21, 2008. \u00a0\u00a0The original set contained 471 emoticons and has since increased substantially. \u00a0 It also paved the way for future emoticons developed for other devices.<\/p>\n
